Misc General Banter Thread

Everything is as ready as it’s going to get. Groceries and water. Grills. Butane. Battery packs. Phones. Laptops. Extra gasoline. Flashlights. Blankets. Kerosene heater and fuel for when the power goes out (I’ve resigned myself to the fact the lights will go dark; who knows for how long).

Now we wait. It’s almost an eerie feeling tonight. Not worried - I’ve followed my plan since Monday. Just a weird feeling of working toward this event, and now, the prep is complete and it’s just about go time.

Thanks for all the great discussion and analysis this week, folks. Everybody please stay safe.

I have gas logs…. They’re turned on by a switch on the wall but apparently you can run it on D Battries. Any of yall know how to start it from there? Like just the pilot or something?

Mine still work from the switch, I turned off my breaker to the living room where they are and I was still able to use the switch to ignite it, of course that was with batteries in it. You could also have a manual click to light button on there as well.

Well, Mr. Goofus doesn't even get me to freezing for that run during the overrunning precip, which would be a blessing. The AI version disagrees and it's colder.

Guess it ultimately comes down to nowcasting. If I'm close to freezing when some of the early precip arrives, it might be a moderate impact event. But if near the upper 30's like I've seen some suggest, I may end up staying plain rain...
