Misc General Banter Thread

@NBAcentel bro please wake back up. Everyone is being a buzzkill.
Last week of January looks great to me. Lots of nao/ao blocking at the end of the means… end of the means hinting at sprawling high pressures and wedges… end of the means lighting up with winter weather…

MJO pulsing through phase8.

I’m pretty excited about it

Still holding out hope for a southward trend towards last night’s GFS solution for those of us ATL folk

It’s 8:15 in the morning and someone is upset about today’s trends and 12z hasn’t even started 😂

00z was an absolute amazing trend in the right direction for a lot of people outside of the mountains and we take a step back at 06z and it’s all global warming’s fault. I’ll catch yall after church!

My wife has been looking for an older dog (past the puppy stage) to adopt. She likes big dogs and found one from a Marine stationed at camp Lejuene who is deploying to Germany and can't take the dog with them so we went and got her yesterday. She will be 2 on Jan 20th and is a gentle giant.

Sir, that’s a horse

The problem with tracking winter weather in the south is bad trends normally beget bad trends

And good trends normally beget bad trends as well

So it’s tough

I love big dogs. We adopted the dog in my avatar from the SPCA when he was three years old and he is still going strong at eleven years old. He weighs 105 pounds and loves people. I hope your new dog/horse works out well for you.

Feels like we're grasping at straws now for any snow here the next 7 to 10 days. I wonder why the GFS loves to show chances 10 days out so much only for them to turn out to be a mirage a couple of days later. It feels like it's pointless to even think we have a shot unless something pops up on the Euro inside 7 days.

This has been common for my w tire weather watching hobby history. Anything past 7 days on any model will be wrong 99% of the time

If I had any hope in that GFS depiction for next weekend, I would be half tempted to get in my vehicle and try and drive until I see snow on the ground as that looks like something that's reachable for me.

Would be even better if it slowed a bit.

Would even be tempted to try and stay near relatives in NW GA, but that's probably too hard a reach for now.

Well it’s blizzard like conditions today here on snowshoe. Fresh two inches on top of ice with zero visibility, not great if I’m being honest. Time for a beer.

The worst news is that it is still fairly dry east of the mountains right through the end of the GFS run. We are heading for a 1986 repeat unless things change fast.

I honestly used to enjoy this hobby so much more when I just hopped on once in the AM and once before bed during the Winter and didnt know forums were a thing. I found out in 2014. It is awesome to track with others but the up and down of emotions is insane lol 1 post "Bad run terrible trends" post below "good run nice shift" A TREND IS 24-36HRS STRAIGHT of movement one way or another.
