Pattern Freezing Ferocious February

Followup to the above: today's MDA (now called "Radiant Solutions") forecast for KATL for Feb.: It has been warmed even further and is now at an incredible 57.3 F, which would obliterate the current record warmest Feb (which was just last year) back to 1879 of only 56.1!! And before 2017, the warmest Feb had been only 54.9, which was way back in 1927!

The warmest met winter month on record is Dec of 2015's 57.6. With the current Feb fcast already up to 57.3, there is a realistic chance at breaking this too.

KATL ending up with the record warmest Feb (since 1879) is now a virtual certainty. The latest Radiant Solutions (pro met group) forecast is for an incredible 57.4 (same as Tuesday forecast and ~10 F above normal), which would obliterate the current warmest Feb of 56.1 (set just last Feb.). There is still a chance at tieing or beating the warmest met winter month on record of 57.6 (Dec of 2015) since the forecast is so close now. Amazing times in wx history!


Edit: today's KATL low of 65 ties the warmest low on record (back to 1879) for ANY day between 12/29 and 3/17, inclusive!

though its fair to say our drought is getting wiped out lol

I tied my record high of 75 on Monday and destroyed the record high for yesterday’s date. The previous record high for yesterday was 71 and my backyard temp hit 78!!! The way I look at is that next February is way more likely to be normal or below normal on temps. Odds are highly unlikely of 3 February’s in a row breaking high temp records. So if we don’t score early on next winter I think we can do good late in the winter. Nothing scientific about my theory other then playing by the law of averages. If we do torch next February then maybe it’s the new March. Lol

Like I said, I think we (we as in southeast, not a specific place or area), used up all of our February quota in 2015 for awhile. Darn shame, as wet snow events are more my favorite over anything and I would have loved to have been gambling on it again this year but no.
 
Unbelievable to me after looking at my snow pictures from this weekend up there..... 78 in Central Park today... warmest ever in February

80 in Newark!!! Earliest 80 on record

I know for sure we tied our all time Met Winter temp of 79.. we may have clipped 80.
