Wintry February 19-21, 2020 Winter Storm

Hrrr says I'm good but man I am doubting it. These rates so far are slack. Need this major band to come together as modeled or its gonna underperform here.

You can see where the axis of heaviest precip is. You feel like it would have to pivot more SW to NE soon for places like Raleigh eastward to get in on the really heavy rates.
The last couple of frames on the radar the heavy band that has been over southern Union county is showing signs of backing up to a more SW to NE orientation. That should continue with these banding features now with the coastal beginning to take over.

The area between FAY and New Bern is gonna be ground zero for this deathband I feel based on the radar trends.

This thing is all but over for us in the Charlotte area. Maybe an hour of light snow and it's a wrap based on radar returns.

This one is just about finished here. Late pivot isn’t going to help the upstate. That makes about 12 hours of moderate/heavy snow I’ve seen in the month of February. I ain’t mad. Good luck to everybody east of me. It’s been fun

Yeah it figures. Most models had that running along highway 64 about 30 miles to my north for numerous runs and now its gonna verify 30 miles to my south. Still its snowing after a dumpster fire of a winter so its a win in my books.

While it looks bleak on the radar, right now, I don't know if I would call this over quite yet. Especially if you're east of I-77. There is still moisture to the south of us. If that low bombs, it could easily dump here again. We really just have to wait and see.
