There's always next year. Or is there? :(
Who knows? If it really is caused by the warming around the Maritime continent and this is MJO driven, then yeah this is possibly a long term thing. Not saying every year will be but this will be most common.

But, as HM pointed out in his tweet, once you think you've identified a cause it flips. History has shown -NAO's are more prevalent in solar minimums. Yet here we are. 10 years now without blocking there in winter. I'm not sure but that's got to be a record. So not sure analogs are even useful anymore.

If this is all that's left for our weather anymore, I may think about moving within the not too distant future. I'm NOT spending the rest of my life following 6+ months of sweltering in the 90s along with nothing but non-existent winters.
The one thing I hate about Tennessee is the humidity in the summer. No way I could live any further south then where I live now. If possible I would prefer a climate such as Indianapolis, Cincinnati or Columbus Ohio. Somewhere that is likely to get at least two to three events of 2-4 inches of snow in a bad winter.

Who would have ever thunk it—people moving north! GW for the win.

Spent the bulk of the day taking Christmas decorations down outside and cleaning up the inside of my house. Took the tree out to the fire pit where I will be setting it ablaze later tonight. I did all of this with basketball shorts and a t-shirt on..and honestly, I’m not mad about it. I saw snow on top of Newfound Gap in early December so I can’t complain. Hopefully you guys get to see some of that white stuff in mid February ??

I think a cool experiment would be to artificially cool SST’s to see if we can actually control various teleconnections. You could start on a small scale as to not drastically destroy the natural order, but theoretically you could control every aspect of the weather.

I saw that movie. It didn’t end well.

If I could I'd just move down to the Gulf coast and just forget about snow! But I can't tolerate the humidity down there. Tired of worrying about snow here and always being fringed in the Carolina's. And don't want to move north and have to deal with relentless cold. We used to have the perfect climate here. 4 seasons and guaranteed snowfall every year. Not so much anymore.

I have lived in Tennessee all my life... West Tennessee. I can remember back in the good ole days when we get 2 to 3 snows a winter, say from 1 to 4 inches.. those winters were considered mild to average winters then course I’m older than you and cd 2 play... just saying it wasn’t always like this

I have the solution , move to piedmont/foothills Virginia . Somewhere like Roanoke , Lynchburg , Charlottesville . Still get to be in the south and get relatively mild winters , with much higher snowfall chance and a nice spring warmup.

Everyone seems to forget Virginia !
