Impressive y'all got an inch further to the south, we only ended up with a quarter inch.We actually managed to pick up a surprise inch of snow last last night and early this morning. This was one incredibly stout and long lasting NWFS for my area.
I don’t think I could survive living anywhere on that border SE of Del Rio. Brownsville and that area are absolutely brutal.97 degrees on the Mexican border in Texas today..
We’ll probably make a run for 80 before meteorological winter ends on Saturday. What a winter
Miami, easy.Take your pick of where to live if you hate heat and humidity, Miami, Brownsville or New Orleans
I agreeMiami, easy.
It’ll do that. I saw 3” evaporate with temperatures in the 20s in late February last year when the sun was outEven though it stayed well below freezing yesterday, the higher level end of February sun really knocked down the snow cover yesterday.
Brownsville is the obvious choice. It is the least susceptible to hurricanes of these 3, and gets many less gross warm rainy days. Miami is the only one of the bunch that is a true tropical climateTake your pick of where to live if you hate heat and humidity, Miami, Brownsville or New Orleans
The rain holes have been training over me all day. It’s early, but the rain is starting to feel like a bust here.
Leaving a trail of hail reportsView attachment 194586
Had to do a hail intercept tonight and somehow picked the northern cell of the bunch which went on to produce prolific hail over Talking Rock. I was expecting pea to dime size and was shocked when the thing blew up on radar and went severe. I only clipped the falling hail for about 30 seconds, but stopped in the town of Talking Rock where visibility dropped to essentially zero from hail fog and motorists were sliding on roads in spots reportedly causing some accidents. By far the most hail I have ever seen on the ground. Can’t believe I managed to catch this on what appeared initially as a meager general thunder day (lowered freezing heights can make magic happen around here though)Heck of a hail spike from KFFCView attachment 194588
It hit our house but thankfully stayed pea sized. 3.28”Had to do a hail intercept tonight and somehow picked the northern cell of the bunch which went on to produce prolific hail over Talking Rock. According to the latest monitor, I’m in an extreme drought and I’m seeing the same thing. The ponds are full. Streams are flowing. I think we’re only gonna see more consistent rain with the STJ waking up as El Niño takes holdI’m having a hard time believing my backyard is in a severe drought. It’s been so wet over the past month. None of the reservoirs or rivers I go by on a regular basis looks particularly low, especially compared to other times we’ve been in a severe drought. I’m guessing winter drought impacts are much less impactful. Luckily, a wetter pattern seems to have set in with decent rainfall every week.

I don’t think drought means what it used to mean. My yard has been soggy for weeks and weeks. Water standing in some ditches. Ponds seem full. Large creek below my house still runs over the dam. People burning debris at will. Nothing appears to be moisture starved. I guess it’s just strictly a numbers game and not a true reflection of what a “drought” really looks like. And maybe it’s not showing up yet due to the season we’re in. IdkSame here.
