Wintry December 23-26 2022 Winter Weather and Cold

Mom just got power back an hour ago. Before it came on their water pipe busted in the attic and was flooding the master bathroom. I told her to send Duke power the bill..

Not sure why the "planned" outages are so frequent these days with every bit of extreme/severe weather it seems. Doesn't make sense and seems to hurt more than it help. That said, I'm no engineer and dont have an inside track to what they're trying to accomplish.

It is 19 degrees at RDU and 19.3 degrees at my location this morning. I was a little surprised it didn't get colder than it did, I thought the low would be somewhere around 15 degrees. Yesterday RDU tied the record for the lowest minimum high temperature for Christmas Eve with a high of 29 degrees. Today should send temperatures above the freezing mark and from there the warm up is on for the next ten to fifteen days or so.

Spent Christmas Eve without power.. around 8:30am we lost power and it eventually was back on at 2:30pm. House was 62 when it came back on.

RDU is already up to 29 after a low of 19. Yesterdays high was 29 so we are already there. Should be above freezing before noon. Diurnal today was barely 10 degrees which is insane considering the very low dews and 0 cloud cover!
