Wintry December 23-26 2022 Winter Weather and Cold

Can’t imagine this not being cold enough for some.. this is record breaking stuff tonight and tomorrow.. negative wind chills and yet we’re just not getting enough?? We live in the SOUTH ? this is real and legit arctic air that people in the north even think is really cold. Crazy stuff

Seriously. It’s fascinating. Yes, at the moment it may not be in the teens in my area but it is cold enough. I prefer to keep those teen and single digit highs away from me.

This is still a very impressive system.

The wind has been ferocious,
It literally moved my Utility building in my back yard off it's foundation.
I went out to cover all the faucets outside and noticed the door was off,
At first I thought someone had broke into and stole my lawn equipment.
Then noticed nothing missing then looked around and was shocked to see the wind had literally moved my building.
I've lived here since 05 and have never had this happen.

ALL the way down into the..

Bay of Campeche In Mexico!..

As far South..
San Rafael on the Coast.. current temp.. 55F...
Just above Vera Cruz..

30F in Port Isable, in TX..
 
I think our ceiling would be 1-3” that the 6z GFS showed east of the mountains. Timing looks good too in the overnight hours.

Its cold but seems like its underperforming. Negative windchills happen every year in Virginia.

In the middle of the day, it's 8 degrees in Chattanooga, TN. The record max min for the day is in the mid 20's. We will likely be shy by some 10+ degrees of that today. Wind chills below zero for 24+ hours straight.

The average high this time of the year is 53. Yep, def. seems to be underperforming...
 
Yeah didnt realize how far below average for you. Chattanooga is pretty far South. I'm from far NW Virginia only 17 miles South of Pennsylvania border so its really a totally different climate there.:) 17 miles as the crow flies, 24 miles on hwy 522..lol

About as far North in Virginia as you can get. 17 miles South of Pennsylvania border. But places like Wise and Norton and especially the High Knob area can get very cold. Wise averages 46 inches of snow a Winter. 17 miles as the crow flies. 24 miles on hwy 522 lol.
