Kind of deceptive, though, since you can bet that NY has millions and millions of cases that were just never detected. We’re doing an order of magnitude more tests now than back in March and early April when New York’s situation was out of control.

This chart shows that the daily deaths were lower around 400-500 a day a month a go now they are back near 800-1000 a day.....the uptick in early July is obvious and fits well with the surge in cases, bottom line .daily deaths are going back up thats the only fact that is relevant....

Where did that data come from.... Source?

This site is the best IMO since it allows you to slide the start date around so trends are more noticeable

For instance here is just June 1 till today showing that deaths have increased contrary to the earlier post stating deaths were at a 12 week low...

Well I've heard there's some incidental data out there that Pepcid and the MMR vaccine might have Covid resistant properties. So... I've changed my GERD meds from Nexium to Pepcid AC and just got an MMR shot. Am I prudent or grasping at straws?

Probably grasping at straws. But I dont know what the difference is in Pepcid to Nexium when it comes to GERD, so if more studies come out you could be ahead of the curve.

FYI in case people still think Hydroxychloroquine is a cure or wonder drug in the treatment of Covid-19....

A March 2020 paper that set off months of angry debates about whether hydroxychloroquine is effective in treating COVID-19 has “gross methodological shortcomings” that “do not justify the far-reaching conclusions about the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in Covid-19,” according to a review commissioned by the journal that published the original work.

“the tone of the report, in presenting this as evidence of an effect of hydroxychloroquine and even recommending its use, is not only unfounded, but, given the desperate demand for a treatment for Covid-19, coupled with the potentially serious side-effects of hydroxychloroquine, fully irresponsible.”

“The results do not justify the far-reaching conclusions about the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in Covid-19”

“To date, robust clinical evidence of the efficacy of (hydroxy)chloroquine is lacking, let alone the combination with azithromycin. The paper by Gautret et al. raised a lot of attention and contributed to a demand for the drug without the appropriate evidence of its benefit.”

And a comment about the most recent pro-HCQ study,

“The study that sparked the latest controversy was anything but randomized. Not only was it not randomized, outside experts noted, but patients who received hydroxychloroquine were also more likely to get steroids, which appear to help very sick patients with Covid-19. That is likely to have influenced the central finding of the Henry Ford study: that death rates were 50% lower among patients in hospitals treated with hydroxychloroquine.”

For the last 4 or 5 days I've had a couple symptoms of Covid... a slight noticeable sore throat and a general feeling of fatigue and weakness. On the second day of these symptoms... I felt like I had an all day allergy attack with 12 hrs of sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Yesterday was the worst day for my fatigue where I just basically laid in bed most of the day working on a document on my computer. Today I feel better and my fatigue is not as noticeable but still there and my sore throat is barely noticeable. Outside of this I have no other symptoms. No fever, no loss of taste or smell, no respiratory issues (outside of my mild COPD that I've had for a few years), no headaches, no diarrhea. I talked to my son and my daughter (who are both MDs) about it on the phone last night. My daughter was pretty firm about me going to get tested. I really don't want to and since I had so few symptoms and am feeling better I think it was something else besides Covid. I am pretty old though (65) and take a lot of precautions to avoid getting it. Just wondering what you guys on the board think? Is getting a test warranted?

Always follow the advice of family and professionals! ?

Seriously, I’d get tested just to know if I had it or not.

Last Tues I went home from work with sore throat, headache, sinus congestion and tightness in my chest with some dry coughing.....Wed I knew I was sick but I didnt feel like it was much more than a cold, that night though I ran some low fevers in the 100 degree range so I went to the doctor Thur morning and they were like with those symptoms we are testing you go home and dont go anywhere till we get your results.....well they came back yesterday and I was negative and I have not had any real issues since last Saturday ( no fever at least ) I still have some sinus issues and off and on spells of coughing/tightness in chest but nothing consistent....it feels like a cold that was teetering on the edge of being more...then it wasnt.

Yeah it seems like I forget that I get nasal problems from all the humidity in the summer every time I wake up with slight issues I think I have covid haha

“People are more likely to contract Covid-19 at home, study finds.”

And boom goes the dynamite

Seems kind of obvious....

Do you wear a mask at home?
No. The gf works at a hospital, she has a routine when she gets home to reduce risk of bringing the virus into the house, she is also is required to wear a mask at work from the time she gets in the parking lot until she leaves the parking lot. We have already discussed and have an isolation plan if one of us were to feel sick.

That being said I still don't quite get the point?

To me that study means do what you need to do in public to protect yourself so you don't take out your entire family

Well known. But it’s because they’re bringing it home to family members. So what’s the dynamite about?

This didn’t need a study and demographics of people going to test found this out easily. You’re more intimately close to family members you live with and sometimes sleep with.

Again, why is there a boom?

Not S.C.s biggest district
Well my school district hasn't a clue. 3 of our 4 schools aren't doing in person schedule pickup then the other one just announced in person pickup. So it's not safe for 3 of the schools but is for the other one. SMDH

The virus has to get in the house somehow.

Hahaha that's the gotcha argument? Stick to wallstreet

Mom is worrying me a little bit right now, she's had digestive issues for a little while and this evening was suddenly having some coughing fits that she only has when she is dealing with respiratory or sinus problems. Sometimes they're sinus issues (her mom is awful in that department and she can be too), but sometimes they're not.

Her oxygen recently was fine and she has still passed her last temperature check, but given that a facility that we've been going to lately was suddenly "closed until further notice" today, and I only have one reason as to why it'd be in this age (Augusta has a mask mandate but they have most definitely NOT tried to go back to phase one yet like Atlanta tried, I double checked the website and haven't seen anything, haven't heard anything either), it makes you wonder.

Now, for the crazy part, unless she gets really ill, we're really not going to know unless I were to try to confirm my suspicions with this recreation center and then get tested myself if I'm correct on my suspicions. Because she's not going to get one herself unless she's actually really ill due to how stubborn my dad is. They will not be staying in either (my dad did cave to the idea of wear a mask to avoid more shutdowns though), although if she's still not feeling good next week, it could end any chance that they go to the Y early next week.

Maybe I just have a tin foil hat on though, because we really didn't have much contact with anyone at this facility. Just came in to swim. Dad hasn't said anything (he tries to play tough guy though) and if it's not sympathy pains I might be having some minor digestive problems, but other than that, nothing.

Would not be surprised if you see Augusta hospitals cancel electives fairly soon, but from my knowledge it's still at a point for them where it's "busy, but very doable, and not busy and chaotic".

Looking at the graph for Georgia it appears to have peaked finally. Hopefully it's not just a blip but the 14 day average at least leveled off. I see a lot more masks and with school starting everyone isn't crawling all over the place any more. We live just down the street from Red Top Mountain State Park and it has been BS crazy there all spring and summer. I pity those rangers having to deal with everyone.
