Germany and France are locking down again at least partially.

Frankly, even if we see a different administration, I can't see us locking down again, but we're well on our way to at least some of this country causing a Sweden part 2 imho. No lockdown, but enough of the US gets scared about acting normally that they willingly keep themselves away from normal activities and it causes economic activity to slow down to a drag.

If you look at Georgia's numbers they are definitely trending up but not in a spike so this is different than the previous two jumps. It seems that it started after fall breaks for school.

A teacher colleague that I usually work with closely has a family member with it now who they live with. The teacher has tested negative and the only good thing is that I haven't been able to work with this person since early last week. Normally we plan side by side with masks on (mandated by our county) but due to scheduling issues we didn't. I just really want to go back to normal, as a teacher, this is straining us terribly when we have to be out for quarantine for two weeks when we teach face to face. I DREAD it if I have to ever go out!

Well he did play 6 innings before he was pulled. Plus pre game activities. So if it was not a false positive they were already exposed anyway...

Already exposed anyway?

Using this logic gets you in trouble. It’s all about frequency and length of exposure. For instance, say someone goes to work and works a few hours but finds out they have covid. Should they work the rest of the day, an extra 6 hours around their coworkers, and take off their mask? Or should they go home? Exactly. Can’t believe this is a discussion but I am amazed daily....

Using That logic everyone he was around that day before he found out he "might" have tested positive should have self quarantine immediately also... False positive are real more often than not at this stage... What happen to Coach Nick Saban made that real clear...

Somebody else tested positive in that Justin Turner situation, I think this one is legit and not a false one like Saban was.

Just 1 other person as of now though. They tested again today and everyone that passes will be cleared to fly home even if they shouldn't be.

You spend your entire life training and working your *** off to make the World Series. It not guaranteed and only a tiny fraction make it to that point. I wouldn't have cared as long as everyone self quarantined after the fact.

False positives aren’t “real more often than not”....using another example of a false positive in sports doesn’t support that. There has been plenty of athletes out on the covid-19 list in the NFL who were true positives. That’s a ridiculous argument.

Justin Turner tested inconclusive on Monday and positive on Tuesday. A false positive doesn’t look likely to me.

You can’t assume it’s a false positive. Treat it as a true positive until confirmatory PCR testing is done, assuming it’s an antigen or rapid test he took in the first place. It may have been confirmatory Tuesday.

And your first point— in a world that actually followed protocols, they’d do contact tracing and everyone he came into contact would quarantine. But this is sports in the USA and that doesn’t happen. Still, what he did was reckless.

A new COVID-19 mutation variant called 20a.EU1 has been reported in several countries in Europe. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/29/coronavirus-variant-seen-spreading-across-europe-research-says.html
Thank you......similar mutation in Chile.
