Covid hospitalizations have increased to above 1,000 in North Carolina for the first time in many weeks. A bit concerning, I hope Cooper doesn’t close more businesses again...

The steroids are only shown effective in cases where the patient is severely ill and it doesn’t necessarily prevent lung abnormalities post-diagnosis.

I respect Roy Cooper for his rhetoric throughout this pandemic. This fall and winter will likely be horrible, and I’d expect more to close.

“Milder (Covid) cases are less likely to cause lasting scars in the lung tissue.”

You realize lingering effects goes beyond lung scarring? Lung abnormalities can mean reduced oxygen intake and low oxygenation levels. There’s also been studies in asymptomatic cases that show heart scarring and irregular rhythms long after recovery. Nobody here truly knows the long lasting effects of this horrible disease, I’m just relaying the information I’m familiar with.

Im gonna reserve my judgment on that. I’ve seen some of the studies on a small amount of asymptomatic infections that show heart or lung damage, however most I’ve seen are several months old. Logic would dictate that this damage could be easily proven or disproven with the massive numbers of asymptomatic cases we know of in factories, prisons and college campuses.

no wonder we have a bunch of people that don't know how to take care of theirselves

Last Thursday afternoon, when Hope Hicks tested positive for the coronavirus, President Trump was aboard Marine One, on his way to a campaign fundraiser at his New Jersey golf club.

Hicks, a top Trump aide, had traveled with the president to a Minnesota fundraiser and rally the day before and reportedly felt ill on the plane ride back. "The CDC guidelines are pretty clear when you identify [someone] who is infected,"

"I assume the president was one of those persons," Koh says. "And according to the guidelines, the quarantine should have started at that point, for 14 days."

Instead, Trump greeted over 200 supporters at the New Jersey fundraiser, flew back to Washington and mingled with dozens of aides. A few hours later, the president tweeted that he and first lady Melania Trump had also tested positive for coronavirus.

I'm not talkin about Trump I was referring to the California help aid telling people to put their masks on in between bites.

I really don't understand why they say cases will increase in the winter because more people stay indoors. Heck i stay indoors more in the summer. Im outside as much as possible in the fall and winter.

You’re outside more in winter than summer? In the summer, people do outdoor activities and work in the yard etc. They go to parks. They’re more mobile, this is a known thing. This is why flu returns every winter. Also lower heat and humidity allows for better spread. That and the holidays allows for more spread as well.

The indoor argument is only one part of the equation, but for example imagine going to visit friends when it’s 80° out and they’re outside drinking a beer on the back deck...you’d go outside and join them, but likely won’t sit directly beside them because you’re outside, you can stand up and maybe walk around. Visit the same friends when the temp is 40°, having a beer inside on the couch, you all sit on the couch and you’re in a smaller area. This is why it spreads more...more frequent gatherings in close quarters.
