Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

Is there one single news source verifying this happening? Saw someone post the other day that Elvis is still alive.
“You cannot have visitors or go to another person’s house unless it is for the purpose of giving or receiving care.”

“Holiday accomodation and camping venues must close. Travel within Victoria is allowed only for work and education, and only if necessary.”

This is one person’s first hand experience. I guess we can either totally discount it or we can dig a little more.

Just one more thing: these kids are already going to be on campus with other students. So you can’t argue that allowing them to play is a way to spread COVID.

Yeah, if colleges don't go all online and let guys go home, these kids, without that carrot of potentially being able to perform in sports, are going to be going out and about even more than they might be in the case of possibly having football.

Or they're going to go home and hang out with their high school friends...

Football's going to be darn near impossible with the protocol that the whole team has to freeze if 1-4 players test positive, then everyone has to be tested a lot over at least 2-3 days, but if we think that cancelling football and potentially letting these kids go home is going to change much, especially with the mood that an 18-22 year old has, and the way America has gone about things, we are crazy.

Honestly, if I were other conferences (other than the Pac 12), I'd tell the Big 10 to pound sand for now and go ahead and cancel by yourself, even though things don't look good.

Canceling college football won’t change anything except the liability of the schools. These college kids are not going to social distance if there is no season. They are gonna get in large groups and have a good time. Your living in fairy land if you think they are all just gonna go home and stay inside all day.

Say that and you're going to get yelled at and strongly disagreed with though on reddit.

I can see how college football is going to be very difficult until they change the protocol with sports (teams have to freeze what they're doing with 1-4 positive tests and then get tested multiple times), but cancelling fall sports is going to do...absolutely nothing with the age group we're talking about here.

In fact, they're arguably going to be safer with the setup they're going to be in. If/when we remove that setup and potentially even have kids go home, they might have no idea they have the virus if they do.

If the season is cancelled it won't be for the health of the players. NCAA is all about the money, if it could be a bigger loss to play than cancel, season is over.

The NCAA technically doesn't have a say here. They did with March Madness but don't in the case of other sports.

That's likely part of why this is looking messy so far. The Big 10 has multiple schools that apparently do not want to play for what is viewed as safety reasons and haven't for weeks, yet the SEC was caught off guard when they announced conference only some time ago. Now all of a sudden, they want to cancel merely 48 hours after the SEC revealed their +2.

The SEC at least as of last night is saying they're still in monitoring mode (of what's going on with pro sports though) and apparently the ACC is leaning that way. The Big 12 hasn't made a decision, although some think they lean more towards the Big 10/Pac 12 (both in favor of spring or just cancelling).

No uniform standards are making this a mess.

Send them to school its safe.........

That school went to virtual only for today and tomorrow to deep clean the school.

Earlier this afternoon I got my first COVID test (remember, this is for school purposes). Definitely very uncomfortable and although I didn't mention that I was a little surprised about the time frame, I was told that I'll get it back in 2-3 days.

That's very interesting given that I'm in the camp that it's not very urgent. We'll see about that. Should be negative but we'll also see about that as well.
