Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

Moot point. No one is going to get Covid and live with the virus inside of them for the rest of their lives lol

It’s not moot. You don’t understand the difference between cure and treatment, so I’m trying to help you understand. There’s no cure for Covid.

Also, how do you know the virus can’t remain dormant? Many viruses live in the body long term. We don’t know enough about the lasting long term effects of this virus to make that conclusion.

Shingles is a virus. There’s no cure for shingles. We have a new vaccine that was released in the last 2 years that cuts down shingles episodes or recurrence down by over 90%. Meaning, it’s protective in preventing shingles in 90% of the population who gets the 2 dose series.

Shingles is caused by a virus, varicella zoster, which is seen in folks who had chicken pox as children.

When you get chicken pox, the virus stays in your body for life, living in nerve cells in your spine. It reactivates due to stress mostly, causing shingles which are painful blisters on the skin from affected nerve endings. This can then sometimes cause PHN or postherpetic neuralgia, which is a lifelong, nerve pain and tingling issue as a complication from singles. People sometimes lose their eyesight permanently because they get orbital shingles in their eye.

So, with this *novel* Coronavirus, tell me how you know for sure people won’t live with the virus for a long time or have severe complications throughout their life resulting from Covid infection?

Yeah, the world is actively trying to kill us every day. Eventually, it wins, every single time. You know what beats back the onslaught? Industriousness and making life meaningful every minute of every day. Redeem the time you have, because it's finite. Living in fear of every "novel" virus or new threat is not going to cut it. Freedom to pursue your dreams will. We need to end the fear and panic over this and get back to full, unrestricted life!

It’s almost got to the point were I can’t believe anything since the bias has gotten so bad. So I’ll stick with talking to people that are actually on the front lines and go with that.

I’m on the front lines, not just a keyboard warrior watching viral videos on the internet. I speak to doctors and other pharmacists all the time to pick their brain about Covid. Not a single one says HCQ is the answer or that I should check out that video. The people involved in medicine don’t fall for that stuff, but I don’t necessarily blame people who do. It’s easier and more comforting to believe this virus is a lie and the cure is HCQ. It’s a hell of a lot better than the alternative...that we need a vaccine badly or we have another year of this or more....

The FDA and other agencies have summarized all the trials globally for us, with cited journal links. It’s out there, available for critique. If anyone wants to analyze journal articles on their own, my professor wrote this book.

Evaluating medical trial data for bias is hard. We were trained how to do it, had a whole semester class on it called Medical Literature.

If anyone is coming out claiming success without publishing data, then that’s a red flag in the medial world.

I’m right there with you. I want to return to normal ASAP, we just have different understandings on how to get there.

Yep that’s why I said it. I’ll listen to the doctors and nurses that are actually working on the Covid floors dealing with the patients first hand. They’ve told me a lot!

Apparently to you your freedom to not wear a mask in public is more important than curbing the spread of a deadly disease. Yesterday there were 978 deaths in Tenn, today it's 999. Almost a thousand now. Got to believe mask wearing and social distancing has helped to keep it that low. Wearing a ------- mask does not mean 'fear and panic', it's called prudence and social consciousness. Critical thinking my ass.

The disease is no more deadly than many death risks, even avoidable ones. Yes, freedom is more important than health. Wear a mask if you want to, but don’t mandate it. It won’t work anyway. Look at California. Mandates don’t work.

But stop acting like masks and distancing are useless. There are more people out there who support using masks and distancing than don't. However it's those who act like they're more important because they believe they deserve infinite freedom that are making this harder on those trying to actually kill out the virus. Isolate the damn thing until it is no longer contagious then go about your life. It worked everywhere else for their first wave and likely it's because of the other countries that failed to smother it that its popping up in other places again. However chances are they'll lock down the are and stifle its spread or be intelligent and distance.

Found out today one of my coworkers that was working at home tested positive. Problem is they came to the office earlier this week to drop off things and pick up more work for home. They didn't come in the building, but because those of us in the office might have handled the same materials, we have to close down the office and all get tested now. I don't know if the person had symptoms or not, or why they even came to the office if they got tested. I am not really worried about getting it, though, since I did not have direct contact with the person.

Did Fauci really insinuate that masks should continue to be worn through flu season, every year on Good Morning America this morning? Also, he's encouraging everyone to go out and get a flu vaccine, too. Would you get a flu vaccine and continue wearing masks to stop the flu? It would be a recurring thing every season. There is no killing a virus or isolating it or whatever. It isn't going away and it will always be with us. Will mask wearing also be with us forever more?

Then why aren’t our numbers going way down?

More people now refuse to wear one and are making an outrage over it and aren't distancing than back in April and May when we made progress. It all went out the door when people stopped distancing and taking the best preventive measures they could to not spread it from hotspots. It became political as well. Health and science shouldn't be partisan but some made it that way.

It's nuts how big box chains are requiring masks, yet I was in Home Depot and Publix today and maybe half the customers were wearing one. The companies policy of non-intervention is pathetic.

BTW, wearing my mask was annoying and stifling, so I get some new ones today and holy smokes, what a difference. Fits perfectly and can breathe alot better in it. I have a large and fat head, so an XL mask did the trick.

Maybe my comment was not exactly in line with Covid-19 discussion. But, there are many points to be made and diseases that could be thrown in with covid 19. But, they are not. That is my point. Cancer is treated, never has and probably never will be a cure. Covid 19 will probably be around from now on just like flu or who knows what else. Possibly they could find a cure someday. That would be nice.

Just like Jon said in his post. Its my bedtime again. I'm on vacation Friday and leaving for farm to start getting ready for deer season. Temp Saturday morning is suppose to be around 64 or so. Not bad for first day of August.

Most deaths since mid-May today. Not particularly good. On the other hand, there does seem to be building evidence that we are on the downward side of this current peak with cases and positive rate trailing down from the past couple weeks. Of course, deaths will lag some, so there may be worse yet on the horizon there.

Before Covid, it was illegal in many areas in the United States to wear a face mask into stores, banks, gas station, etc. Since the mask mandate, these areas lifted that law for the time being. I want to say Raleigh has as well.

Where is the outrage that people aren’t allowed to wear a mask when this is over? Isn’t that a American right?!?!?! When this is over, I want to see the same energy by anti-mask people protesting their right to wear a face covering in businesses. Tell them you’re not going to be told by law what to wear or not wear on your face! It was so easy to give up your freedom to do so before Covid, don’t stop when it’s over!
