I have no issues with them playing. I'm tired of the constant anecdotal attacks on the masks.
Masks aren’t ? and it’s hard to manage with MLB players and other sports. With the travel and down time they have it’s going to happen so all they can do it test test and more test. They can’t wear them while playing so the opportunities will be present so it’s tough call.

With the mlb and nfl not going into a bubble like the nhl nfl mls this is bound to happen since they are exposed to the outside world once they leave the stadium and I haven't seen a lot of guidelines as far as restrictions post ball park. I think the killer for the rest of the mlb season will be if Phillies players start popping up positive. Right now it's easy to say well the marlins players are in the dugout, clubhouse, bullpen, outside of the park together let's reassess our practices. If the other team has a ton of positive cases then its very easy to say the game itself is unsafe unless you start using ghost men on the bases and no catcher. Unfortunately that would poop all over a football season

A batter and a catcher; a first basemen holding a runner on; a pitcher communicating with his infielders at the mound; sweat pouring off everyone; runners colliding with infielders. I can do this all day. Shall I go on?
Yes, but it will not make your point any less moot.

Serious question: At what point do we accept that the virus is here to stay? Will we be more confident as a society in our ability to overcome once the vaccine is made available or will we we be more confident once the majority of people wear a mask? Hospitals are not being overrun as was the primary fear when this virus came about. So what is the goal here? What sort of indicator are we looking for to go back to our lives unafraid?

oh ok. How about this then? But keep railing against the masks.

I’ll give you props on that video. Good find. However..I didn’t see anyone sneeze or cough in the video.
“Since the disease spreads via respiratory droplets, neither a handshake or fist bump would be a primary way to pass along the virus.”

But breathing in one another's faces certainly would do the trick, you think? Perhaps even mores so after physical exertion, when they are prone to breather heavier. But the vrius certainly can be spread through hand contact and through sweat. Sweat on the hand/arm that is later transferred to the nose/mouth/eyes would all do the trick, I believe. So, either way, there is no evidence that masks were useless, as your first snide little post indicated.

If none of the players in that video have tested positive what’s the problem? I might be missing the point. Can’t spread a virus if you don’t have it.

We don't have to accept anything because as you can see from countries around the world you can control and manage it. Sadly we don't have the society or leadership at this point to man up and do what needs to be done to do the same thing. So the rest of the world is now isolating us from them. If everyone would finally buy in and do what needs to be done we could get out of the mess we're in over the next 6 weeks.

No point in trying to talk peacefully to any of y’all if your just gonna call people idiots for opposite opinions. The crazy thing is though we have the same opinion on mask and most people have the same opinion as you and everyone else we just disagree on how to get the job done.

Didn’t call you an idiot. I called the people that say they can’t breathe while wearing a mask, idiots. Reading comprehension is your friend. Take Tylenol for any headaches, Pamprin for any cramps, and Boudreaux’s Butt Paste for the butt hurt.

Vidant up to 89 cases. I believe they have somewhere around 950 beds so that's almost 10% of their capacity taken up by cases. Doesnt sound too bad but when you look back just 2 weeks they were running 40 to low 50s so that's quite the increase.

The problem comes in when you consider that you might still have the virus but not test positive for it. If someone contracted it 2 days prior, they might still test negative, as the virus hasn't had time to replicate massively yet.

I don't follow sports at all, so I don't know if these players are being tested every single day or not, but if they aren't it would be pretty easy for someone to contract it, 2 days later test negative, then 2 days later they play a game and start spreading the virus all over other players.

Does anyone know what their testing guidelines are for these players? Am genuinely curious.

I say just cancel all fall sports. Yeah it sucks but if they attempt to have sports it will just create a mess when people test positive. Is it even worth giving it a try ?

I think they are being tested everyday.
