To beat covid will take a fight on several fronts. This isnt a one shoe fits all approach vaccines will only work if enough of the population receives it. Social distancing and face masks for the foreseeable future. If we have to rely on herd immunity im afraid it wont matter then due to being able to be reinfected at a later time witch has yet to be determined. I'm afraid its here to stay. We had our chance to keep deaths low and we blew it there was no stopping it but we could have been a lot better off......
 
I took a regular hospital-type mask and took a squirt bottle of water and sprayed a couple of sprays into the mask. I didn't see much of anything come out the other side of the mask.

So I assume they're at least somewhat helpful. Given that, I'm good wearing one for now.
 
I’m of the opinion that mask shouldn’t be mandated by governments at all it should be left to businesses and to each person individually. That being said if you can’t social distance or you have to go to a store then wear your mask. Don’t be a person who uses some fake medical condition to not have to wear mask. I’ve also heard of outdoor workers like construction crews having to wear mask which is dangerous in my opinion and anyone working outside should be exempt. I’m alright with mask right now but if this time nxt year after we’ve got a vaccine and all that and were still being told to wear mask I will become agitated because mask shouldn’t become a common thing for the rest of our lives and our families lives. I believe it breaks a certain bond that humans have to not be able to see each other’s faces and each other’s smiles.

1. Do you similarly feel there’s a bond that’s broken when humans are not able to see each other’s private parts? For some, that would lead to smiles. ;)
But seriously, some folks would prefer we be allowed to walk around naked in public and don’t like the laws against that either. Slippery slope. The govt requires private parts be covered when in public. Why then can’t they also require our mouths and noses be covered in public?

2. Don’t forget that mask wearing is mainly to prevent one from spreading the virus to others as opposed to prevent getting it. You can’t rely on folks to wear masks because some are selfish and others are ignorant.

I understand your point with that one but I do feel their slightly different ? Ik some people are selfish and ignorant and don’t care about mask but ik if 40% of people wear mask voluntarily and another 40% wear mask when their going to a store or out in public then you have 80% of people wearing mask in public. You may have 20% who don’t wear mask and 5% may be people who truly can’t wear mask and most of them probably aren’t out in public anyways because their probably vulnerable to the virus. That means 15% don’t wear mask and 80% do then that virus is probably gonna have a difficult time transmitting. Point being the majority of people are gonna do right with out the government telling them to do right and a majority should be all you need to slow the spread. That paragraph was probably a little confusing ?

Keep that spray bottle, you’re going to need it , if you want to see snow this winter!
I wear my mask outside of my home now, and heard that McDonalds will be requiring masks to come into their restaurants soon

This should not be a political issue but you don’t have to look very far to find reaffirmation of this stereotype even on this very forum and actually this very thread, that’s simply fact.

Most of the conspiracy theories regarding masks are being pedaled by MAGAs, shocker...

No it’s not. Especially in this thread. On another note, do you really think that Vidant only had 54 total patients and now has only 76? Get real. The biggest hospital in Eastern NC.

From my experience in NC our volume this summer is dramatically higher, more people are going to the doctor in July than they did in April and May because those appointments were postponed. So we have very high, abnormal prescription volume.

We usually are dead in the pharmacy volume wise during summer, because the “normal” is folks go on vacation and don’t make doctor appointments or elective surgery appointments during July. We often have time to do drop staff hours and do projects.

This is not the case this summer. The majority of people are going to the doctor. (Article says 90%) id put it at 100% for the triangle of NC.

I have an appointment for pre-op of a colonoscopy. September. Guess we will see what happens. I’m 50 with CLL and no spleen so my physician says to do it.

Your opinion about construction workers is wrong. Construction crews abating asbestos wear them 8-10 hours a day in heat and they’re just fine. I wore one Wednesday for six hours doing yard work and I have underlying health conditions.

If you have a “health condition” that you feel precludes you from wearing a mask because you “can’t breathe” then you better get your ass on some supplemental oxygen because you’re probably gonna die due to the slightest bit of exertion. Seriously. You have to be in some really sh*tty health to say you can’t breath with a thin face mask on. If that’s the case, you should not be outside your house because if your breathing is that bad and you catch CoVid 19, you’re probably going to die.

People wear these masks 8-10 hours a day with zero issues. But, but, MAH FREEDUM!!! F*cking idiots. Nothing but f*cking idiots. And I’m retired from the healthcare field before anyone decides to say I have no idea what I’m talking about.

No point in trying to talk peacefully to any of y’all if your just gonna call people idiots for opposite opinions. The crazy thing is though we have the same opinion on mask and most people have the same opinion as you and everyone else we just disagree on how to get the job done.

Does that mean you’d be annoyed with Dr. Fauci, who was photographed several times that way at a baseball game? I wish he had not done that due to the criticism it opened him up to. And I love the good doc! smh
