Why on earth is anyone still arguing against masks in public? It's not a permanent thing, only temporary in order to control the spread of disease. There is literally no medical/scientific body that suggests NOT wearing masks. Only right wing politicians for some reason. If you are a patriotic American why in the world would you want to help spread the disease and put pressure on hospitals by exceeding their capacities? Seems antisocial behavior to me. Pure lack of empathy and concern for the society you live in.
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I have heard no compelling reasons why TEMPORARILY having to wear a mask is a bad thing. You can throw up some mess about taking freedom away or whatever, but that's silly, unless something like this were to become permanent. Humans are not designed to live their lives behind a mask. But that's neither here nor there right now. We're talking about a temporary protocol that just makes good sense.

Are you going to make the same argument for vaccines? My body, my choice!
You're not asking me, but I don't favor mandatory vaccinations at this time. I might could be convinced otherwise down the road. But right now, that feels like an overreach.

If we mandate mask shouldn’t we open everything up? I don’t understand the whole mandating masks along with closing things down.

Everything is kind of broad. I'm in favor of opening up as much as is possible. But things like gyms and restaurants might be difficult, as you can't wear masks while eating and working out. Those are just two examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Yea eating with a mask on is hard but I have seen guys with mask on working out.

I can’t believe we’re still arguing over masks. It’s over guys. I hate to break it to you, but there’s just not going to be a safe vaccine this year. I actually think we could see some hybrids before they get it done. The situation is actually worse than 1918, and the urgency and scale of this global crisis makes climate change look like a joke. In Spanish flu pandemic, people were logistically unable to travel from their homes and regions. It took years to accomplish the type of spread we’re seeing today, and multiple evolutions in varying regions, as well as multiple recombinations with strains in tropical and temperate climate before it even reached the U.S. Just look at the map. We’ve outdone ourselves repeating history.

A guy on another forum made a thread specifically targeting this question. I will not post it here due to its political nature but I'll PM it to you.

This article is about 2 weeks old but we sure as heck didn't hear about this admission.

Yes but if you're a carrier or sick, keep your body away from everyone else's. We don't want it.

Even if you received a vaccination, you should keep away from people. They don't even know if you'll have those anti-bodies a month or two after you're vaccinations. In the moderna press release, antibodies started to drop at the end of the study.

On a weather/covid related note, I can't even begin to fathom the kind of logistical and/or humanitarian nightmare a large-scale hurricane evacuation this season would pose during the middle of a pandemic where people are encouraged to stay at home.
Wow, I can't even imagine what that would look like. Lot's of elderly folks would risk dying and would not leave their homes.
