Your fine. Its no big deal except for a select few. So much information changes daily. Only thing ive seriously concluded is that no one knows squat in reality. Science, govt, media, general public. Beats anything Ive ever seen. There is a covid 19 virus that originated in a lab in Wuhan China. Its very contagious and very hard on elderly people and pre existing conditions is about all Ive ever gleamed. Its wrecked the economy world wide with shutdowns, created panic. Is the panic ,our response justified or a big over reaction? Who knows, because they(the group I mentined above have zero clue). To much agenda driven mud in the waters, instead of just identifying problem and finding right way to solve. Alot of folks, not all see this as a crutch to gain politically this fall. Sky is falling, keep it shut down, hide candidate till November by giving em cover. Other side you have a few virus doesnt exist, twilight zone made up etc.
I originally thought it originated in a lab but there is science that says the virus did not. It came from the wet market from consumption of bats. This virus has been proven to have been transmitted directly from a bat to a human.

My wife's doctor office tested a handful of people in Apr/May and had no positive results, and did not see many people with flu like symptoms....in the last 3-4 weeks however they have had numerous positive test and are seeing a big jump in flu like cases and are doing 4-5 test a day now.....its obviously spreading much more quickly in NC and its getting worse each week.

North Carolina breaks the four-digit mark in hospitalizations today as they grow to a record-high 1,034. ICU/hospital beds excess capacity still sits around 21-22%, which is largely unchanged, however.

I’m ok with wearing the mask. But if the mask helps so much make it mandatory and open up everything .

right? Masks are mandated here now but bars are shut down and restaurants mandated at 50%(and some people want more shutdowns...)

you got your mask order, can we move on now?

masks were mandated in Galveston but they closed the beaches on the biggest weekend of the summer???

It’s def a right/left issue. Righties are the ones questioning COVID numbers, if masks work etc. fauci has been consistent on his stance on masks for three months or so.

It’s not a left/right issue for me at least. As I have said I have no problem believing medical masks help. However these cotton masks being effective has me doubtful. That said I can be convinced, all I would like to see is a study that has someone walk around Walmart for twenty minutes and then tell me what effect the mask is having on the person and how much is coming out of that mask.

Got like small blisters in my mouth with sore throat. Could be anything

Something is screwy with AL hospital data, especially over the past week or so. Daily admissions has been flat since April, yet pretty good spike. Almost like they aren’t reporting those discharged.

So all the pop up testing is gone here and if I want to get tested my results would be 10 days or longer. **** that I will carry on as normal as soon as I get less dizzy

the studies and data is out there comparing transmission rate based on if you wear a mask and If the infected person wears one or not and vice versa. If both wear a mask transmission goes down to 1-3%

That's how I feel, too. This what should have been done months ago.

I would still like to see the data on the demographics for the new cases, those that have been hospitalized, and the percentage of people that have tested positive but don't have any symptoms and never get sick. From the data that I have seen, it is the elderly that is still the most at-risk and making up a large majority of deaths in NC, even though they only make up about 15% of the cases. If a large majority of people are testing positive but not getting sick, and the ones that are mostly getting sick are the elderly, then to me it would be common sense to target the elderly, and that they should avoid going out in public as much as possible, and others should stay away from them if they have been out in crowds. It seems some want to focus on the totals and not look at the demographics and odds for those demographics. Going with a scorched earth policy instead of targeting those most at-risk is just wasting resources and not helping those most at-risk of getting really sick and dying from the virus.

So if both people wear the masks correctly the transmission only goes down 1-3%? What happens when the mask isn’t wore correctly or touched constantly?

Looks like people are presumably staying hospitalized longer for whatever reason. Maybe it’s because the hospitals have the excess capacity and thus are playing it safe with those under their care, maybe it’s because they’re hurting financially and are trying to milk their COVID patients for all the money they can get, or maybe it’s because those hospitalized are in worse condition and thus need care for longer? Hard to say. Interesting, though. I wish North Carolina published information on admissions.

The school issue is a huge mess, too. Wake County is going with the option of rotating three groups of students. One group is in school for a week, while the other two groups are having school online. That would probably leave 7 or 8 in each classroom. I think they are going to be eating lunch in the classroom. Or maybe have each class spread out in the cafeteria. Not sure how they are going to do busing yet. Everyone has to wear a mask. I guess this is the best way to do things to get kids back in school some while keeping the classes small and students separated during the day. I still don't know what working parents are going to do with work or child care during the two weeks the kids are supposed to be learning online.

Here's the thing with keeping kids out of school. How are working parents going to deal with it? They can't take that much time off work. A lot of them can't afford to put kids in day care or camp that often. But even if they could, that just defeats the purpose for keeping them out of school. Instead of having 7 or 8 kids together in a classroom, now you have a bunch of kids together at a day care or camp. There is going to be a risk either way. At least one way is still trying to teach them something.
