12 employees of the local carpet plant just tested positive. This thing has to be widespread especially locally.

I could see a coordinated effort between GA/FL/NC/SC but that’s just a wild ass guess
I have no inside knowledge, but a coordinated effort between GA/NC/SC seems plausible to me. (for some reason I think FL would be on their own on decisions. No offense floridians ? )

There is still an old saltpeter mine around here from the Confederacy making gunpowder.
I grew up in the woods, in south GA and N FL, on a working farm, with grandparents who survived the Depression ... saltpeter was still used for many things in the 1960's and 70's and '80's, as was kerosene, turpentine, barbed wire, and a few shotguns ... just don't know how many know how to stay alive and still consider it living ... maybe that Depression was somehow a good teacher ...

I love me some turpentine. Cleans anything.

Then 00 on the 12, and some #9 shot in case ... need a shipping address?

LOL. Have some PDX rounds, some slugs, some 00, some breaching rounds. No #9. All I have is stuff for big things. Deer, bear, robbers, doors, cars..

Edit: Forgot Sabot rounds

It’s been a lot of fun tracking the apocalypse with you guys. It’s going to take a widespread 24” southern slider to match this thread

meh its what we do, and nature is being stingy in the severe dept so there is no distraction for us from C-19, just wait till the first decent Mod risk day in the Miss Valley or OK/TX to come around.....

Just in case anyone thought we were not in any real trouble in the US.....the lag time is key, it takes 10ish days to show symptoms, then from that onset to death for those that have died its around 20-25 days. That means that the death count wont take off in the US for another 30 days or so....its also why even though Italy has had a total lockdown for 8-10 days now they are still seeing a steady climb in daily deaths....the real question is did we and are we doing enough now to separate us from where Italy is now....

Something to keep in mind as well is our population vs Italy is vastly different. We have 5-6x more people in the US vs Italy so I would expect the overall numbers here to be higher at least in regards to confirmed cases.

They have also tested A LOT more people than we have even though they have 5 times less people...so the true numbers are probably way higher for us....that's a bad thing though.

This is absolutely not apple's to apple's. We have 7 times the number of people in the US as Italy. Also, as I said yesterday, our confirmed numbers would explode as we got our testing up to speed. That doesn't mean we should panic and cry that the sky is falling. Before this last week or so we tested very few people. We will see it explode more still as we test even higher numbers soon. This want necessarily mean out infection rates exploded overnight as most of these people were most likely already infected. We just didn't know it.

Read where NSW is suspending some BUDS training for 8 weeks. Prob a good move. Hell week wrecks your immune system. Might delay the boy child if he decides to stick with his decision.....

yeah but......

more infected people means more it’s more prevalent than we knew and more people infected means faster spread. Let’s not think this is good news. It’s friggin everywhere

I just don’t think Italy is a good comparison. Every nation has a different path they’re on based on a combination of how things shut down, how much testing is being done, population, underlying age/health issues, etc. For example Italy has a 8.5% death rate so far which is really high compared with every other nation. Germany is the opposite spectrum with a .3% death rate. It’s just hard to compare nations with different people, cultures, population totals, density, etc as each nation is on a different course imo.

A major difference between the US and Italy is that their population is far more elderly; Italy's median age is the 5th highest in the world, whereas the US ranks 61st.

That’s probably a good idea. Company barracks are a cesspool of sickness once someone comes down with something.

But it could also mean milder cases if it's that prevalent and hospitals are not being overrun.
