Misc Cold Season Complaining

I wish I could get excited when a global comes out with a good map (UK?) but I am burdened with the knoweldge they are pretty useless now compared to the hi-res models

I'm not surprised at all by the lowering totals. I've just been super skeptical of this set up all along. I'm just not convinced it's going to stay below freezing throughout the column long enough for any meaningful accum outside of the northern reaches of the metro area. The only chance of an overperformance is if the east/west frontogenetic band sets up on top of the metro while it's still just cold enough for snow. Models like the RGEM and NAM unfortunately has this band move over us when the warm nose has already transitioned the precip type from snow to sleet/ice. Models like the GFS and FV3 are the best case scenario where the band moves north through the metro while still staying snow. Just based on history and climatology, I'm going with the former scenario and it's quite clear the NWS is too.

More times than not, my location is on the wrong side of the rain/snow line due to our proximity to the coast and being further south in NC (just north of Fayetteville in Linden).
This next storm likely will not be any different. However, I do remember some great snow and ice events during my lifetime here, some because we were closer to the coast and further south. A white Christmas in December of 1989 was one of them
I am holding out for one of these like below!! (my grandmother told stories of the first one, I can't imagine 2 feet of snow here)
Sometimes being east in NC can have big rewards with the right setup. Both of these had some 30 inch totals!

As much as I wanna get excited right now about this potential winter storm here In the Tennessee valley I’m not going to get my hopes up on the snow totals here even though I hope and pray we get seriously snowed in.

As long as it is frozen...we're desperate
I'm sorry but this one isn't for us we are too far SE.

This movie has been played many times and every time it ends with the warm nose winning and the snow line way to our W/NW. Not even sure most of wake county can hold it off. Going to be a great storm from Charlotte to Durham and over to like RR though

A slopfest of mixed frozen precip with a half inch of freezing rain on top doesn't excite you?

RAP with the Apps Runner.

For some reason, IDK why, but that would make my day. Not being a hater, but imagine the cliff diving after following this thing for two weeks, that it did that?

I think we would have enough quotes and meme magic for this weather board forever.

If we could get a pure inch or 2 of sleet I might be in but I'm not even sure we can hold sleet here

There is a weather model, that all the CAE brothers are hugging that never shows us going over to rain. It's anemic, very anemic on moisture. Maybe it is the model to hug up your way too? I think it's called the SkinGRAFT or some model like that.
