Pattern August is the worst month of the year and it's not even close thread

I look for the rest of this month to be a lot like 2007. The drought maps will be getting a lot more colorful again. All the way to D4 for some of us.
That month was truly historic and the hottest month ever at GSP by a long shot. It looks to be pretty crappy the next two weeks but it won't hold August 2007's jock strap. The first 10 days of this month were not even in the same universe.

BTW; that month set the GSP records for most 100 degree days ever in one month, most ever for one year, the most ever consecutive days of 100 degrees, and the all time highest temp ever recorded at that time.

I gotta say that I agree in the short term. It will get better as we evolve into September/October though.

The fact there are people here who actually wanted this weather blows my mind

Yesterday was the all time record from 1936 at 115 degrees even. Amazingly it still hasn't been topped Screenshot_20260811-071239.Chrome.png

Picked up a solid .25" of stratiform showers for a few hours yesterday. That was nice and will at least give us some green grass locally for the next week or so.

Euro hasn't met a long range where it didn't go over 100. All time heat wave on the 0z run with 3 days near 110 here.
Aww Fall! Leaves should be just about off the trees by then, get the rakes ready

----- about ready to get real in NC. Duke just put this out.
A storm system moving across the region is bringing damaging winds and heavy rain, causing widespread outages. Our crews are ready to respond as soon as conditions safely allow. Please stay safe and avoid any downed power lines. We appreciate your patience.

is it me or has the NWS really been missing the rain chances everyday
Sure feels like it. I’ve have had 20%-30% rain chances the last few days and there have been some pretty noisy storms around my area each day. Although short range models certainly havent been helping since they haven’t been showing much activity. So far this month have had some measure of rain 8 out of 11 days where im at.

My stomach is in knots seeing what storms are going to hit us. Expect 70mph wind gusts and power outages if they do!
