Pattern August 2023 Thread

I noticed that the NWS 6-14 day temperature map has below normal temperatures over a good chunk of the Southeast. It is going to be cooler early next week if we can survive the heat this weekend, especially on Friday for central and eastern North Carolina. Hopefully the cooldown early next week is a sign of things to come.

NWS shows normal to slightly above normal temps with slightly below normal precipitation over the next 8-14 day period for the majority of the southeast.

No sign of a real cooldown in sight on the GFS. Labor Day weekend is still a scorcher for many of us. Up to 116 in Iowa on it. Now this Sunday looks very hot too, so 1 day of our minor cooldown is gone.

We'll be fine. All next week looks to be below average for many of us. The Labor day heat is too far out to have a handle on but upper 80s to low 90s would be pretty normal. This has been a hot week but last week was very pleasant for mid August. Most of us have little room to complain about the heat this summer; we have been quite pleasant compared to many; some folks have had 100+ for weeks on end. GFS numbers have been way too high for us this summer so take those with a spoonful of salt. We're 9 days away form met fall; it's coming.
