Maybe that will cut down on the drive-by shootings. So I have been in Durham the past few days and the storms yesterday have left half the city without power, there is even massive cell service interruption. Half our new traffic network is offline, and nothing can be done about that until power is restored. Who knows when everything will be back up, but they should have declared a state of emergency with half the traffic lights dark.
I've actually been warned about this from several locals, I had no idea it was that bad.Maybe that will cut down on the drive-by shootings.
But what’s the plan for overdoses and cutting meth use in the more rural areas, brick?Maybe that will cut down on the drive-by shootings.
It really isn’t. Unfortunately, those things happen in really one part of town. You wouldn’t go hang out in East Atlanta, right? Don’t hang out in East Durham and you’ll almost certainly be just fine.I've actually been warned about this from several locals, I had no idea it was that bad.
fixed. It really isn’t. Unfortunately, those things happen in really one part of town. You wouldn’t go hang out in East /South/ North/ West Atlanta, right? Don’t hang out in East Durham and you’ll almost certainly be just fine.
We got power back at the house sometime overnight! A bunch of line workers rolled into our hotel last night at 1045 and were gone when we got up at 0630, no question they've had some long work days this week
We can never say "never" where weather is concerned, but that is extremely unlikely. The GFS has been abysmal going out past a few days with it's highs all summer long. It has consistently shown triple digits (sometimes well past) for many east of the Apps all summer and thankfully has yet to be remotely close. Its really embarrassing how bad the GFS is with its heat bias (and cold bias in the winter). Also, August 07 was early to mid month whereas this would be late month into Sept; it would be harder to get that kind of heat anytime, but especially as the summer becomes later. Also, 07 was highly drought influenced, which is not a factor now.The 6z GFS is awful. If it's right we have a repeat of August 2007 on the way. A long stretch of 100+ for most of us and up to 115 along much of the Missouri river. It basically starts over the weekend and goes right through Sept 2 with few breaks.
GFS is clearly off its rocker. It has a high of 110F for TDFThe 6z GFS is awful. If it's right we have a repeat of August 2007 on the way. You are right but with the 500mb ridge where it is it would still be hot enough. The midwest will probably reach 105-110 anyway since there is a drought ongoing for some of that area. It would not take much of a move back to the west for us to miss most of this anyway and that is what I'm hoping happens. We can never say "never" where weather is concerned, but that is extremely unlikely. Actually just looking at it, it doesn't look that bad to me east of the Apps. It's actually cooler than some other recent runs and still way overdone; I mean it is even missing on highs for today and tomorrow. It just has a really bad heat bias.

I've hung out quite a bit in East Atlanta. Never been shot or heard of a shooting there. It really isn’t. Unfortunately, those things happen in really one part of town. You wouldn’t go hang out in East Atlanta, right? Don’t hang out in East Durham and you’ll almost certainly be just fine.
Yes but it's still the gentrified frontier. You can have the nice renovated house but you'll still have someone sleeping in your crawlspace and taking your catalytic converter.East Atlanta is the gentrified part of the city.
We only ran into one area of town that seemed to be struggling with power last night and that was through croasdaile country club.
Didn't really this was where people dumped on each others' home cities. Shouldn't this be in Banter at the very least?fixed.
I’m from Atlanta. 37 great years . I know Atlanta very well. Worked downtown for 6 years. All good and I still call it home.Didn't really this was where people dumped on each others' home cities. Shouldn't this be in Banter at the very least?
And, yes, crime in Atlanta is out of control, it's basically a Third World country and that's what property values are up 109% in the last five years. (And before you say that's the suburbs and not the city proper, do a little research to keep yourself from looking even sillier.)
