Lightening has slowed down and the rain has picked up here. Feels nice outside!
I tell ya… I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen thunder and lightning for 3 solid hours like we’ve had tonight. Good steady rain to go with it.

We had some of the worst lightning I have seen here tonight with at least a dozen strikes within a quarter mile of where I live and 1 that destroyed our landline phone box throwing pieces of it up to 20 feet away.
.43 here....until the little man inside the Tempest who works for NC Rain Check decided to take some away.

I was hilariously excited for little shower last night that dropped 5 mm on us, bringing us to 13 mm this month.

It didn't drop east of by much sp I cashed in on some good wind and around .65 in the bucket

Final August rainfall total is 0.55”. I have a feeling next month will be much wetter.
It's vs the rdu avg though I usually run below the rdu average unless we cook. If I use the avg of the data I have since like 14 it's like -.6

Had a nice storm before the sunset... and supposed to be no more 90s which would be an improvement over last year if it happens
Total here for August: 15.33”, with 10.9” from Debby 8/5-7 (which flooded parts of my garage). A thunderstorm on 8/20 caused some more water to flow into my garage but it wasn’t nearly as bad and I was on top of it. (I’m waiting for a Storm Shield threshold to be installed). It has been at least several years since I had 15.33” in any month.
The 15.33” combined with 12.25” in July gives me a two month total of a whopping 27.58”, which is just over double the normal! My JJA was ~31”. That is just under the 32.23” I got in the also very wet JJA of 2022.
I got 20.9” just for the period 7/19-8/7! There’s been only traces since the Aug 20th thunderstorm allowing the water table to drop back down some.

August was not terribly hot in my neck of the woods but I am glad we can turn the calendar page. Debbie made life interesting in the first part of the month.
When the ridge is over the northern gulf, it gives us the absolute worst summers.
