Pattern Another Angry August: Broiled, Baked, and Bone-Dry

An east west band of scattered thunderstorms, some heavy, has popped up from W of my area to offshore. I started hearing thunder a little while ago and now it is raining at varying intensities.

Edit: I received ~1” today, which I think is the heaviest since July 13th.

And just as I knew days ago this is missing this area. We will be in severe drought by next week. Anything that shows widespread rain is useless. Now we get 7-10 days plus of dry weather for everyone.

You can’t peg these rain events but if you’re on the immediate lee side of the mountains you can assume your chances are even more sparse. Take the wins when you can

This one was hyped up bigtime though just like a snowstorm would be. The mets on Facebook basically guaranteed everyone would get lots of rain out of this. Now some are trying to say next week will be wet. Next week will be bone dry for many of us right through and beyond next Friday. We need the tropics to wake up to change things up.

I have been pleased with the rain totals the past few days for my local! It had seemed the we were in a dry bubble for most of July with rain to the north, south, east and west but the past few days have been wonderful. Now going forward the GFS op has it pretty dry but the Euro is wet. Praying the Euro is more correct but we will see.

The beauty of severe storms in a heat wave …

The GFS will be right. I guarantee it.
