So my youngest daughter is on the way home from college, my nerves are always shot until she gets home.... but today is worse. I-95 is closed in several locations and now she is traveling back roads as it's getting dark, she's called my wife and is a little panicky. Trying to guide her home... anybody in Wilson want to escort a college kid back to 95 Lol.... seriously a little prayer would be nice guys/gals
I feel you, I had to cancel on a client I was supposed to meet at 6. No way I’m driving to Raleigh in the dark in these conditions ! Out of Wilson ? Could always take 301 then get on 58 or whatever it is near Nashville heading north , then there’s this two lane road I take , Taylor’s store ? Gets you alll the way to 43! That’s one of the way I took to get to Medoc .

She is aware, trust me she's not gonna drive through water.... thanks
Try 301.It'll take forever. I had that happen and sat in front of a computer trying to get daughter on car phone back to uncw post a hurricane. Ended up down in SC coming back up through MYB/Brunswick county. Hopefully she makes it safely. Luke 4;10B

Yea I'm familiar with the roads but thanks.... by the way, she is back on 95, not home yet but at least on the main drag lol. I think she will be fine now, she's a cautious driver (did not get that from me).

I can’t imagine though, those roads north of Nashville are devoid of gas stations or anywhere to pull over for miles and miles ! Nearly ran out gas out there . Prayers @metwannabe ! No way she can stay another night ?
Well I should've made her wait until tomorrow but she was determined to come home today, sometimes these young folks can be stubborn

I know , if it was me I probably would have accused my mom of overreacting to the conditions despite knowing deep down she is right and went out and drove lol. Foolish I know but I’m growing more responsible , that’s why I cancelled tonight’s planned session! As long as she is on 95 and some of the main roads she should be safe . God knows those backroads are not fun.

I’ve driven in the snow twice , now that was treacherous .

It’s funny but every semester since my friend started at UNCW they have had to be out of school for a good chunk of time because of hurricanes . This is the 1 year a hurricane didn’t take them out but COVID did! I think he has had a combined 1 or 2 full semesters only out of the 3 years he has been there .

Anyone else have a record number of bugs getting in the house the past few months? I had a pest control guy here a couple weeks back and he said all his customers said the same thing about the most bugs they have seen in a while. If that weather folklore is right it could mean some serious cold soon.

Haven’t heard this myth before? Mind filling me in?

When bugs enter the house in high numbers early in summer expect a harsh winter. Also, spiders spinning larger than normal webs is one as well.

Yep, bugs are smarter than even the most sophisticated computer models and smartest mets in the world like Webb, JB, Judah, etc.. I always knew those carpet beetles and mosquitos were brilliant. So, who needs brilliance from the models, Webb, etc? Just check with the bugs! They don't even need to go to school to learn. That gets me thinking: do bugs actually go to school? Are there bug schools?

Lol. Nature definitely has a way to tell us what's up. Unfortunately we have screwed with nature so many times that it's tough to know what's going on anymore.

We’ve had ants some this year but that’s about it. I bought some Termidor online a couple years ago and spray it around the exterior walls. Every year I get less bugs than before.

If I was in the area I definitely would give you a hand. I had to go to Fayetteville to get my oldest back in July. Her car broke down in Rocky Mount and her friend that was with her called her brother to come get them. He lives in Fayetteville. Lucky for me, her stepfather owns a nice towing company. The company is the only one in the Albemarle area that does heavy towing. They have one of this tow trucks that has a crane on it. Only one around here.
