Because I know nobody will see this if it gets posted elsewhere, is there any Carolinas-specific data available for where thunderstorms occur? I'm interested to see if there's any trends, I know of the (maybe not) mythical "weather spots," but is there hard and fast data?

You sound more like the weenie here
Nah dude I’m just being real. Unlike the weenies who are dying to admit they secretly wish/ hope it busts much colder and is a surprise catastrophic ice storm/ snow storm . They hint at it all the time “ it’s gonna come in colder “ “ the warm bias “ “ yikes this doesn’t look good ( deep down jumping with excitement )”. I’m real with it ! I admit what I wish / hope !

Oh I know, but the warmth isn’t coming back with this system, it’s dead Jim, go to the Florida panhandle if you want a sniff over 65

Didnt seem like that big of an issue in the 70s and 80s, although it may have been. Of course back then, we had to walk to school with shovels and bookbag full of emergency supplies.
If this was the 80s, we’d be polishing off our shovels for 6-12” of concrete right now. It could snow under 558 1000-500 mb thicknesses and everything. Things just don’t work like they used to.

Yep. I also bet Atlanta-Macon- Augusta-Columbia-Fayetteville-Rockingham-Whiteville areas would've gotten atleast one winter storm and a major cold shot if the pattern we have now occurred in the 70/80s.
