2 Zebcos, one Shakespeare and $100 later..we’re ready to rip some lips in the morning!
The only way to get rid of the horn worms is to look the plants over every day and find those suckers and kill them before they eat too much. They can be a pistol to find, due to their excellent camouflage and the ability to remain perfectly still when you are moving the plants around. Just look around the area of missing leaves and you'll eventually see them.Got to put in a lot of work. Getting soil ready, fighting off bugs and disease. I consider myself a decent gardener, and I struggle with tomatoes every year. Then the hornworms get em! Hot peppers grow well, bell peppers not so much! You just about can’t kill basil, just have well drained soil. Grew cucumbers for the first time last year, they were very successful! Keep good water on stuff from a drip hose, water splashing up on tomatoes and stuff, from overhead watering,is bad. Keep everything fertilized well. If you don’t soil test, just use 10-10-10 fertilizer

Yeah, I have seen hornworms defoliate a single 5’ plant overnight! I try to keep an eye out, but they are voracious! Also y’all should grow moonvine, if you’ve never tried them! Easy to grow from seed and will take over a trellis in weeks! Huge whit flowers, smell great! Only an annual! The only way to get rid of the horn worms is to look the plants over every day and find those suckers and kill them before they eat too much. As for cucumbers, I have found that they climb very well. I have section of fencing that I previously used for roses, and that works really well. They completely cover that thing and I can pick them without bending over and hunting. Also, the cucumbers have no soil on them and I only have to give them a quick rinse before they are ready to eat.
What a dud rain event today! .19, no thunder! I feel like by the end of April, we will be very dry, and wishing for rain!
On the day after Puke winning at that. Coach K looks like the Joker.Nothing like 2 hour baseball practice in 44 degree weather, and wind gusts of 25 mph +! Winning
Here's hope ... not immediate, but hope ...
Pretty dry inside 200hr but plenty of precip from 200 on. I’m not sure there’s cause for concern right now
I put down some tall fescue seed a few days ago when temps were in the upper 60s and we were due to get some rain the next day. Of course we barely got any and don’t have any in sight for a good while. I can’t even remember the last time I was looking at extended dry conditions of a week or more. It damn sure wasn’t last summer when I had to mow literally every 5 days for the whole season. Then to top it off the forecast is showing me getting to freezing or slightly below every morning for the better part of this next week. Forecast was for 31-32 this morning and I ended up at 30 degrees by 1am with a low of 26 this morning. I don’t know if this will kill the seeds but it can’t be good for them.It would be nice if we could dry out for a couple weeks. I need to throw some seed out. My yard looks like dog excrement
cold won't kill seed ... if they haven't germinated, you should be good.I put down some tall fescue seed a few days ago when temps were in the upper 60s and we were due to get some rain the next day. the only other issue is seed rot if they get wet, stay wet and it's too cold to germinate ... but cold ain't gonna touch a seed ...Na that won’t kill seed. You really can’t kill seed. Flooding rains are the main threat to was it away.

One of the next 2 winters will actually be a real winter again. This year's crap fest will not last forever. There will be better days for us snow weeners.
Everything around here is still cart path only!I can’t wait for the 90 degree rule. I’m getting way to much exercise.
