Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

I swear when I just walked outside, I experienced the weirdest event I've seen. I think it was sleet but it was so light you could barely tell. As it was falling it'd make a little crunch sound on the ground.

Now I think I'm back to snow again, maybe some sleet mixed in. There's no way this is going to accumulate though because at best its 35 outside.

It was board wide, sure, but not really a "storm" for many areas. Extremely light accumulations.

I walked out side this morning and it was sunny with what appeared to be little flecks or crystals of ice floating and blowing in the air.

Figure this should go in banter lol, my only complaint with this 1 1/2-2” we got is that it fell at night here and we didn’t get to enjoy watching it fall. This brings us to 13-13 1/2” for the winter.

It's not called being bitter, lets not try and pretend it's not frustrating to miss out on snow. You can pretend, but the frustration is real whether you choose to deny it or not.

Haha, I was afraid it'd be a case of CAE being just too warm, while areas like Newberry, Lexington, etc did okay. It's been snowing for a while in Lexington, but it's boring and not sticking much.

Anyways, I think I will be taking a less active forecasting role on southernwx, even in the columbia region. Probably just stick to the technical side of the website instead. This weather stuff is too stressful!

Figured I come over to the banter/vent thread....
Banter: It's a tomato soup and pimento cheese sandwich kind of day

vent: rates decreasing rapidly and the snow hole is commencing.... oh well if it must happen I hope Shane, Brick, 1300, Webb and RC have roof collapsing accumulations, congrats guys

Mixing with sleet or rain. Didn't go out to check. Quite frankly don't care. Good luck to everyone around me looks to be a good storm for my surrounding counties.

We would've done ok if the temp wasn't stuck in the mid 30s... I'd say about a half inch to an inch of snow fell from the sky...and nothing stuck.

Your kidding? I see on the radar it showing mix right on the Fuquay line. The meso low should start heading east and that will help us all with temps. I have about 2" and almost an inch on the neighborhood road Just about what the HRRR runs had.

You always say that or something similar after a miss. You'll be back just like the others.

I hope some of y'all can learn to relax (particularly, when it comes to weather). It's not even worth it, IMO. There are more pertinent matters. Again, that's just me.

Enjoy!

No I'm dead serious. You can see the mixing line on the radar and it's over my house. Talk about a let down. What accumulation I had is gone completely brown ground

That's a bummer for sure. But, from 2-8pm the HRRR has 5-6" across southern Wake. New Euro shows the same. I think we will get better temps and ratios hopefully for the last half of that.

Eh, not so much this time. Maybe I'll be excited if I see a climo type of storm/track; but these close call type events aren't even worth getting worked up over, mentally, for me anymore.

The radar is about to be empty except for some backend crap. This one is the most disappointing storm in a while. Literally everyone just west and north of us got pounded.

You said you weren’t going to get any, so why do suprised/upset?

What do you consider "getting pounded?" The most I'm hearing out of the upstate is about 3". There could be some isolated 4" spots. There are already some folks talking about issues in parts of NC.

Haha! Exactly!

It's like someone talking about their football, basketball, or baseball team is going to suck bad before the season. Then, they get all pissed off when they do end up actually sucking.

Why be disappointed or pissed off when the expectations were low or nil (rhetorical)?
