Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

This winter is gonna lack alot of sleep, helping family setup things for christmas late, streaming fortnite/other games on twitch late, parties, then model watching in january with the active pattern, oof
 
Whoever is thinking about saying it, don't. I will instead. It's the shortest day of the year today, which means that the sun angle doesn't really matter until late February into March. If you expected me to say we are now headed towards spring then you're right, but it's so far off that it doesn't matter right now. Enjoy the shortest day of the year!

You just set off the SER alarm when you said sun angle! I think there should be a ban on posts talking about sun angle before the 2nd week of February! :cool:

My sister lives in the twin cities. You might see a big snow as I’m sure you’re aware that the models have been pasting the city with a big snow storm the last few days.

As much as you like cold and snow why dont you move to the Twin Cities ?
 
What happened to the month of December actually being like winter? RDU looks like it is on track for its 8th warmer than normal December in a row. At least we got some snow early on in the month but there are no days with a high below 50 expected for the next week. We also haven't had any lows in the teens or colder yet.

8 warm Decembers in a row cant be just a coincidence....

Looks like Raleigh will end up about a degree above average at the end of the month. While my area looks to be average

I don't think it has at least here. We would have to have a storm at least 2 days apart I would say for there to be 2 threads, as they aren't the same storm. However, maybe we will be discussing 2 different systems at the same time. Let's hope so.

Yea I was thinking in the pattern we are in now, we are getting rainstorms like every 2-4 days. If we can get that with cold we might be able to pull it off. I hope so as well.

It feels like to me they were considered both in the same winter storm, but back in that great 2014 winter, I ended up seeing two snow events in back to back days (Feb. 11-12?) in Rome. Saw 4 inches of snow with round 1, then rain and shortly after, freezing rain whittled it down to about 1-2 inches of white ice, then it snowed again in the evening/night and I got 4-5 inches from that. Round 1 ended up overproducing as it was thought it'd just be an inch or two of snow before going over to a cold rain and I did not switch until that precip was basically gone (it was light drizzle/mist), and round 2 kind of disappointed as freezing rain ate into a lot of QPF that was likely thought to be snow beforehand.

Great event though if you were not in ground zero for the ice storm.

To cold even for me. I’d rather live in an area like Cleveland that gets just as much if not more snow then Minneapolis but also gets above freezing most days. Snow on the ground from December till late March would get old fast.
 
Do both the Steelers and Ravens win out and lock the Titans out of the playoffs, or will one of them lose again and leave the door open for team Mariota? It would suck if the Titans finish 10-6, and finish season on a 5 game winning streak, only to be left out of the playoffs.
 
Screw you San Diego Chargers. We need you to beat the Ravens today so the Titans would be in control of their own destiny. And you were AT HOME but you effed it up! I hope you 'yotches' lose in the first round of the playoffs now.

I dont get it. Didnt the Chargers just beat the Chiefs on the road ? And they cant beat the Ravens at home ? Football is such a confusing sport !
