this is just amazing that for the first time since I’ve lived in Georgia I am in the sweet spot. This could go down as the biggest snowfall I’ve seen here. I remember the blizzard of 93 and we got the shaft where we lived in Kennesaw and got less than 7”. We have 3” on the ground now and it isn’t letting up

Wait so you got 6 inches of snow and that is considered getting the shaft?

For the blizzard of 93 it was. There was totals all around pushing a foot lol. I grew up in Ohio and have been thru a couple different blizzards with totals pushing 2 feet.

Exactly, I'm probably the furthest north member on this board but also the most east, maritime influence screws me often lol but I can score on late blooming clippers too when no one else does. It's why a board wide event is almost impossible

I assume you have some good elevation also. I’m located 20 minuets south of the Kentucky/Tennessee state line but I have almost 1,000 feet of elevation which helps me a ton with winter weather. Many times I’ve driven home from Nashville and I ended up 5-6 degrees colder when I got home. I’ve had tons of 1-2 inch events while Nashville gets flurries. It’s almost a different climate just 25 miles away. My elevation also helped me with the big storm we had two winters ago. The Nashville area had a solid 7-9 inches of snow and my area ended up at exactly at a foot.

I feel like the pressure is on to not get basically blanked this winter after the Gulf Coast is getting snow today. Surely we will have an opportunity sometime this winter

It’s unlikely we get blanked 2 years straight. Now that doesn’t mean we get a big 5 inch snow but I think we can at least pull off a few minor 1-2 inch events.

I think that people fail to realize just how hard it is to get snow anywhere in Georgia south of Atlanta. Today's storm is a perfect example of seemingly an endless cycle that constantly stays on repeat.

Well don't count your chickens before they hatch, could be some back end snow possibly down as far south as Macon tomorrow morning as cold air advection and a deformation band try to show middle GA some love

Man I see the whole metro with 2 inches of snow and I'm here literally a few miles near the lines with absolutely nothing. Seriously, the south side never wins. Ever.

The southside won in 1/1992 and 3/1/2009.

Yeah, we tend to always do better in situations that don't require cold air to be entrenched like the one that evolved today. For some odd reason, the cold air just refuses to be bleed east in most situations. However, we do tend to at least score somewhat better than places West with the typical classic Miller A storms like 2/12/2010 and the Feb. 1973 storm.
