Here’s a picture of my dogs and I enjoying the fall foliage yesterday.

Holy hell a chargers fan living in Tennessee????

All, as I have mentioned on here several times, I work for a major natural gas (actually a lot more than just natural gas but I am in a Pipeline) company. Over the years it has become widely known that I am a devout "weather weenie", so I have been asked many questions about future weather. I have made several recommendations to upper management and have actually been correct more times than not. That is thanks in no small part to a lot of what I read and learn hear. The especially tend to remember when what I told them happens and it is opposite what they heard on the TV or radio.
Well, today I was invited to a meeting next Wednesday, 11/15, with my VP and the Office of the Chair in our company to hear a presentation on mitigating financial risks with Weather Derivatives. I did not even know there was such a thing. I am trying to read everything I can about this. I can't imagine there is tool that can accurately project future weather trends and enable you to purchase these derivatives to mitigate risk to the point the savings outweigh the cost. Anyway, does anyone on here have any experience with this? If so, please share.

Hedging risk with the CME exchange's CDD and HDD based wx derivatives:

http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/weather/temperature-based-indexes.html

These settle at the actual # of CDD and HDD during various periods of time (example: calendar month) at each of 8 US cities. With a correctly done hedge using derivatives, a company makes money on the derivatives when they're losing money on an underlying part of their business. Example: let's assume a NG company loses money in a warm winter. By shorting HDD based derivatives, they can make a good portion of that money back in a warm winter.

Thank you GaWx. Since I am a very conservative investor by nature, I am hoping our Execs are not looking to me to give a yay or nay on whether or not we do this. Thanks again for the link. I will continue to read and learn prior to Wednesday.

They are fine with people as long as they aren’t acting aggressive. They are actually very gentle with kids and small children. They are however great guard dogs and I feel sorry for the poor fella that ever try’s to break in our house.
IMO anyone who tries to break in deserves what ever comes at them. LOL

ummm...it was just in the 80's a week ago. What can you possibly be complaining about?
I guess I don't appreciate a cold, breezy, dull wedge like I used to without Wintry precipitation chances. I felt so down the last couple days, basically. Today was better!

Have you got something against Neil's falsetto tunes? I kinda like Helpless...

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.

Was thinkin' more about the lonely boy buying a pickup, and heading down to LA - don't bring me down, it's only castles burning ... sort of thing ...
BTW - just did the FB thing!

Gonna brag a little sorry folks lol. Ran my 7th marathon this morning (26.2 miles if you didn't know lol), and I ran a PR (personal record)!! 3 hours 50 minutes, I've been trying to run a sub 4 hour marathon for 6 years...only 25% of non-elite runners accomplish this feat. I'm elated and oh it was in Richmond which had it's first freeze this morning... I picked that one
