The NAM 3k has 2 rounds for some of us in the Carolinas on Sunday. That 2nd line breaks up some as it moves my way and the sounding when it comes in supports tornadoes and shows 450 SBCAPE here.

KRDU thinks this threat of severe weather will be more linear with the potential for isloated tornadoes embedded along the line in the thunderstorms that are going to pass through. They did mention that any breaks in the cloud cover allowing for additional heating could be like rocket fuel and the potential for severe weather could really be enhanced. If the NAM is correct, that second round of weather your way could get interesting if the storms break up into individual cells.

Tomorrow doesn’t look like anything special in NC, well at least for now. Biggest inhibitor is probably instability, but overall not a terrible setup considering it is December after all.

Big squall line with some embedded elevated supercells seems like a reasonable bet. Might get more surface based storms further to the south in SC
