Easily, you’ll almost definitely get a lot more than 2” if you’re already at an inch.I’m over an inch too…would think 2” is in reach with several hours left and nice radar.
It really is. Honestly, it’s very similar to January 2003… it’ll be interesting to see what the ratios will be. I just went out with my son and even the flakes are still strong, it’s a legitimately heavy snow right… visibility is probably .25 miles. Anything that is in the trees blows out when a little breeze picks up… closing in on 1” right now and the radar and obs looks really good to my west and southwest. This is about the finest snow I can remember seeing.
Man, I'm going to miss big down there in Gville (in central Pitt county). I went back and looked at the soundings from the 12z runs, and while they were a close call, none showed sleet at 10pm tonight. Even now on the 00z run, the HRRR still doesn't show sleet there (though the NAM 3km now does). I thought you'd be all snowIt doesnt appear to be, CC is not showing any signs this warm layer is eroding really, line is static in NW corner of Pitt Co has not moved in several hrs,...
Exactly. No air pockets with this stuff. Lot more of this snow on the ground than people might initially think. May as well be snowing sand. One thing I’ve noticed with these little, dry flakes is that they fell down in between the grass blades more, like sleet does. Wetter snow usually sticks to the blades more and leaves a pocket underneath.
