Wintry 1/20 - 1/23 Winter Storm

Looks like it may snow til maybe 1 AM here in S CLT near SouthPark. Better than expected. Road is covered, ground is white. After about 3 years of nearly nothing, 2 little storms in a week has been fun. Always wanna see those big 6+ inch totals, but any snow in southern Mecklenburg County is a win these last few years.

I calculated the speed of the backend to be 0.8 km/min. That would put me at 3 hrs (12:30 am) left of snow, and Raleigh at about 4.5 hrs (2 am). Pretty much in-line with what the HRRR is saying.

It doesnt appear to be, CC is not showing any signs this warm layer is eroding really, line is static in NW corner of Pitt Co has not moved in several hrs,...

3km NAM crashes that line after midnight but keeps it pretty much stationary or even a jog north until then.

Man, I really think we can do 2-4” out of this. Rates really seem to be starting to spool up and I’m encouraged by how the CLT metro is doing downstream!

I certainly think 4” is doable on the south side where you are!
