Wintry ❄The Christmas Miracle❄(12-24/12-25)

First time ever in our ~15yrs, witnessed SN here in Greenville on Christmas Day, mainly rimed-hexagonal-snow-crystals but a few dendrites did make there way to the surface early morning. Obviously disappointment for many, isolated at best, Merry Christmas, C+ with timing just right. Congrats to those with an A!!!

It did manage to hit 41 earlier today and because I was visiting with relatives earlier today, I ended up walking closer to sundown and it was uncomfortably cold.

No luck on snow, but there was some dark stratus clouds a couple hours ago.

Ended up with 3.75 Christmas eve and 1.25 today since midnight for 5 total inches, high today was 19, at 15 now. Stopped by the natural spring at the Cumberland Trailhead a couple miles from my house to get some drinking water and it was pouring. This was about 45 minutes before sunset.

One of these days I'm moving North and/or east in the state. Tired of missing out here in the Noog.

You can buy property at around 3000 feet here on the Plateau in Campbell County. You'd average probably 35 inches a year there. But it's not convenient for work or anything like that. The road to and from there is tough in winter. But even lower down I average around 15-20 inches a year. My worst years in the snow drought the last few years I've gotten 5 or 6 total for the season. The great seasons like 09-11, and 14-16 I can get 40ish.

Take a screenshot. That reduces the size. Do you have an iPhone?

They actually have a picture minimizer app! Rhys the way I can post all my snow pics! You compress the photos in the app, and they post fine, little poorer quality

Beautiful ride to pigeon forge. In and out of snow flurries. Actually got a pretty heavy little snow shower. 3-4 inches around pigeon forge but some areas around the NC/Tn border I’d guess 5-6 inches. Does this count as a white Christmas even though I had to drive to the snow? I’d call it a win

Couple pics from a morning walk temp got down to 9 degrees. But the suns bright so I expect a lot to melt today. I planned this little trip 2 weeks ago not really knowing there be snow. I booked a mystery dinner show for the wife’s birthday and booked 2 nights the 25 and 26 if I could change anything I would have gotten here the 24th. But of course family obligations. None the less it was a perfect ending to Christmas to get a white Christmas for my kids and of course myself. Christmas snow is magical.
