btw the totally free democratic Russian elections are today through Sunday. There's speculation that Russia will declare mobilization after the elections.

@Snowacane how is what I said funny? I'm just genuinely curious. Part of the deal is to keep China from getting Rare Earth materials so it's exactly what I said.

Doesn't look too bad at least right now.

For total motor gasoline, the EIA reported that inventories increased by 800,000 barrels, after gaining 1.3 million barrels in the week prior. The most recent figures showed that average daily gasoline production rose to 9.6 million barrels.

Im in the housing market, during the covid boom builders made record margins on product. They had a reason and ran with it. Zero moral guidance to protect the average homebuyer. Which is fine, not really their burden I suppose.
I have to believe this is exactly what the oil companies are doing right now. All this negativity is their dream. Every media outlet, message board, coffee shop talk is about the state of gas/oil/diesel, they are actively egging this on because my god I can’t imagine the margins that are being accrued right now.

Oil is at 95ish a barrel, typically that supports a gas prices where midish 3 dollars....national average is currently at 4.44 which implies a oil price in the 110-115 dollar range typically....the .market is being manipulated. See all other petroleum product pricing to see they are way above normal versus gas.

Indeed, these folks are purposefully going off on a tangent. Folks aren’t complaining about the price of gasoline vs other liquids. That’s irrelevant. They’re complaining about the price of gas now vs its price prior to the very unnecessary and poorly handled war from a strategic angle (not tactical angle) after promises of prioritizing the issue of affordability and no more endless wars overseas.

This is the largest disruption in global oil and oil derived product markets since the 1970s. It isn't just oil production from the Persian Gulf that's largely offline, it's the distillate products from that region too. We sell oil and refined products as well and other countries are bidding for anything they can get to stave off shortages.
