Misc General Banter Thread

Today my goal is to "Walk in the Spirit". The Bible tells us that “Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” Prov 16:32 How many pains we would save ourselves if we would just catch this and let God lead our steps. Lord, help me today to trust in your strength and not in mine. That is walking in the spirit!

After 6-7 consecutive runs with a system the gfs has finally backed off the last 2 runs. 06z is still running but no development through 246 hours

Something did develop on this run but at 300 hr land.

Honestly my concern as of now looking at what I’m seeing is the pattern change that’s been badly wanted looks like it’s backing off. Looks like more ridging late in the runs.

Yeah 300 is delayed from the previous runs that were developing it much sooner. Still an active gefs with big differences on timing and location though. I. E one member has it race off the east coast ots while others still have it in the gulf

I will never forget where I was 25 years ago on September 11, 2001 when I first heard about the attacks on the World Trade Center. I was sitting in my 6th grade History class as an announcement went over the intercom said that something very bad had happened in New York City. My teacher Mr. Hamilton turned on the TV as we watched the second plane hit! For one minute he turned the TV off and prayed out loud for the horrible things that were occurring. I will never forget but remembering pushes me everyday to show people we have a hope and that hope is in a Savior and His name is Jesus!!

Yeah I'm really struggling with it this year for some reason. Maybe it's the extra attention for the 25th but like it's never gone away fully. It will never be just another day to me

I was about to head to GT to take a Calculus quiz when my aunt called to tell me what was going on. I ended up going in to work but we all just sat at the only TV all day. The weirdest part was the following days with the full ground stop. It was surreal to be in downtown Atlanta and the only planes you'd hear were fighter jets.

I was at Wake Technical College taking a job related course at the time when I heard about 9/11 on my car radio when I got there. Ironically, Osama Ben Laden was on my radar as being responsible for the attack because I had read an article in Reader's Digest a few days before the attacks about him and the worldwide mischief he was up to as far as supporting and planning terrorist activities. It was a day that I will never forget and like December 7, 1941, a day that will live in infamy for Americans.

My uncle got stranded from that air ground stop in Portland, OR. Think it was a work conference. Anyway, he ended up renting a van and driving home…all the way to Tampa, FL.

Not sure how long the trip took--I think they lifted the stop by the time he got back, but had no regrets cause it probably would have taken days to get a flight out anyway.

Just thought this was interesting to add to the 9/11 chatter:

It's sad.

I will say that I was too young then and even if my school did what others did, the parents would hide me from anything crazy.

I have another crazy story from social media btw. Someone's mom was pregnant with them and was working in the WTC, they ignored the stay seated message and evacuated before it was hit.

Gonna be honest, I don't usually visit these message boards much outside of winter, or possibly if there's a hurricane on the horizon. But I have been stalking the boards daily just hoping to see some sign of a cool down in the next few weeks. I have grown to loathe summers in the Triangle now. Bummer.
