BREAKING! Ben Jones passed away! He was Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard! He was 84
FULL ARTICLE HERE

Thanks for posting. He actually passed nearly a month ago, but I wasn’t aware of that. In addition to playing Cooter on the Dukes, he was a GA US Congressman for 4 years. May Ben rest in peace.

Good afternoon, fantasy football league (started by vtrap) needs 2 more members. $100 for winning and no dues. (thanks to those donating, believe it's vtrap and jeremyt) Goto to the thread for the link to join. Unless you're a big fat chicken, of which case nevermind and carry on. ;)

I'm begging man (just decided to look at the operational).

It isn't anything amazing, but it does suggest that this weekend is the last of the sickening heat outside of the southern plains.

Same with the 18z Euro AI. Not quite the 70s we want, but I can make due with mid-upper 80s over this crap.

Man.. The atmosphere is being a real jackass.

From what I've seen via modeling as I've looked out of curiosity, things don't really get going until late afternoon/evening.

You seeing stuff saying that there's a cap trying to hold over SC?

Even as is, radar looks on schedule unless it's going to dry up.

Much has been popping up in different areas of GA/SC since 2PM.

This has got to be the most Humid summer that I can ever remember.

28/31 days in July I registered a dewpoint over 80. That's just absolute madness. We had less than an inch of rain all month so it wasn't from that. Very little mixing and strong seabreezes even here an hour inland. Gonna be a **** ton of mold remediation in the spring of 2027 assuming anyone has money to spend on it. Those consistently high dewpoints cause condensation where air leaks through a building envelope and we're looking at a dreary wet winter in all likelihood.

Hopefully dehumidifiers are on sale for black friday this year because just about everyone on this board is gonna need one.

Man, I just got a new washer due to the old GE we had for 10 years biting the dust. We had to leave it due to the water line being corroded. We got a Whirlpool and that agitator is making a loud noise when sensing. But overall, VERY good washer!

FINAL pictures from the NC Move. The picture above is our U-Haul that we rented from Angier. 20ft one and it was blazing hot outside. Might as well say this it was so bad I had to order ANOTHER sensor for my Libre 3.

Final moments of the old home that I was born in and raised in. My room (seen above) is nearing completion of emptying. This was before the lights turned off due to service stopping

The kitchen seen in its final moments. That was where I took the picture of the milk during the snowstorm of 2026.

The living room during its final days. Everything was so sticky in there.

Now onto the new house, located in Angier. This is my room with the bed on the floor. I ordered a new bed frame due to the old one collapsing in transit

My bathroom next door. Yes that is my laptop (Dell Latitude 7400). I was eating my lunch at the time of capture.

The bedroom before we moved in. This was taken when we did the self tour two weeks ago.

I moved my CC related post to here from September thread:

No joke bout it. Climate change is real …
Average temps keep slowly trending up, snowfall less

1) Anthropogenic Global Warming (human-caused CC) is real, has caused mean global temperature to warm ~2-3F, and is causing it to warm further.

2) Regarding reducing snowfall, that’s been true overall, which is intuitive. But for a specific location, the relationship between CC and change in avg snowfall is complex as it can actually cause heavier snowstorms in some cases since warmer air holds more moisture. This is especially the case where normals are well below 32F.

3) What’s debatable are three main things as I see it:

a) Projections of rate of future warming because of realistic possibility of negative feedback loops, on which climate models likely don’t have a good handle.

One example is “CO2 Fertilization Effect”: ^CO2 leads to ^photosynthesis, which leads to greener planet. Greener means ^CO2 absorption for globe. So, at some point increase in CO2 would likely decelerate and perhaps later completely stop.

b) I’m not at all saying AGW/CC’s good. The main concern I have is rising sea level caused by combo of melting land based ice and expansion of oceans due to warming waters. Also, it likely leads to increased flooding events since warmer air holds more H2O. That includes wetter TCs. But CC isn’t all bad. Why?

- It’s likely leading to larger crops overall due to a combo of CO2 Fert. Effect, longer growing seasons due to warming, and ability to grow crops at higher latitudes due to warming. That means larger food supply and at least in theory less hunger.

-Cold in the past has killed many more than heat globally. Thus so far, CC has actually lead to reduced deaths from extreme temps. But admittedly assuming globe continues to warm, increased heat related deaths will likely overtake reduced cold related deaths.

c) Storminess: CC may actually be reducing the avg storm strength. Why? It has caused much more rapid warming in Arctic than in tropics. That means reduced temp. difference from poles to tropics, which means slower jet stream, which means less energy available for storms to strengthen.

Possibly related to this: typhoon activity has come down in recent decades.

.^To add to my post 2 above this about CC, I forgot this:

There’s a lot of controversy concerning the connection of CC to individual extreme events aka “CC attribution”. I feel it’s overdone at times or at least there’s often a rush to attribute extreme events to CC without enough time or evidence to soundly prove it. I’m not saying no extreme events have been made worse by it. Almost certainly extreme heatwaves have been made worse by it than would otherwise have been the case. Example: the March SW US heatwave.

But here are some examples of a rush to judgement about the CC connection that needs much more time to study it:

-Nepal disaster. Whereas CC probably was at least a minor cause since it has been leading to melting glaciers overall, was it actually a major cause as some have already claimed? If bedrock failure was indeed the major cause, was that in itself due to GW? This needs much more time to study as it is very complex.

-Wildfire disasters: Whereas a warmer globe has likely helped lead to increased fires in some cases, that likely hasn’t been the case for many fires. Also note that global burnt acreage year to date has actually been during the last 2 years the lowest it has been as of this date since 2012!

Some of the issues I have with the AGW narrative are ways in which it is presented. I do not doubt that us humans have some effect on patterns and our emissions mess with the atmosphere in some way. But it's just another one of those issues that people can neither talk respectfully about, nor tolerate any differing perspective.

If someone questions "the science" , in the least little bit, they are automatically put in the out group, told they are an idiot, a denier, or that they are even an immoral person. "Think like we tell you to think, if not you're a ....!" This is no different than some of the behaviors during COVID, or with many cultural issues going on now. Yet the ridiculous "scientific" claims from the 90s and 2000s of all the ice being gone and city "x" being under water were nothing but fear mongering and manipulation. None of that is anywhere close to happening. So I guess the ignorant idiots and deniers who didn't go along with it then are.... still ignorant idiot deniers? Come on.

Not to mention the people that are the nastiest about it are either the wealthiest and heaviest polluters on the planet or seem to have a manipulative agenda. We should all be more mindful of how we use resources because the earth is our home, but the way people have gone about trying to "prove" AGW is ridiculous.

Thank you for laying this out and it's why we no longer have a climate change, GW, political, or corona virus thread while the war thread is literally hanging on by a thread. Personally i would love to break these threads out of the archives and say have at out folks because there could be valuable and enjoyable conversations to have. Unfortunately every attempt simply collapses into a mess that staff is trying to moderate which ultimately has 100% of the time led to staff being accused of someone's opposing view. If there ever comes a time where we can have these threads and they not turn into a facebook comments section we can bring them back. With how folks interact behind a keyboard I don't think that will happen sadly

Well I was speaking on how hot it was haha
