FINALLY, a break from the tstorms
This is in big trouble unless the last 10 days run an epic 2 minute drill, imo
Late to the discussion but I agree that July is far worse. I would probably place June above August as well; despite the early June temps often being a bit better and less muggy, August (especially late August) is on the "downhill" side of summer while June is just getting started. Give me the lowering sun angle, shortening days, and upcoming Fall every time.July is hands down worse than August for me. Recently we average way more 90 degree days ( by a lot)in July v/s August. Not to mention Football at least gets underway in August and the end of summer is in sight. I have July as the least favorable month on the calendar, August ranked 11th and June 10th May at # 9, sept # 8 April 7, Oct 6th, March 5th , Feb 4th, Nov 3, Jan 2, Dec 1.
I'm going with less than three 90 degree days this August for GSO.
I’ve got to go with February being the worst month… it’s cold/damp/still dark by 5:30… hunting season is over… fishing is slow and cold.. weather for golf isn’t good. At least in July and August you can go out on the lake or in the pool and play golf all month if you can handle the temps and humidityJuly is hands down worse than August for me. Outside of the middle week it was as nice of an August as one could hope for.
i can’t wait for the horrors of late august in oklahoma
You didn't, but this will never reach anyone in Union County.
Someone is living in the land of Mucho Dinero and Luxury. How is the wx in Qatar currently?IMO in most of Southeast US north of 32°N, January is the worst month not August.
the setup for crazy rain totals over the next 36-48 hours is an A++++++
Pretty much. Today doesn't look as good as tomorrow. Is there anything for us to do except wait?
This last event <5 days> produced a total of .30"

Same, .01 so far this month. Still under 22" ytdSo far, I've missed out on some of the fun that other areas in the RDU area have been seeing as far as severe weather and rainfall totals. I did receive .35 inches of rain overnight at my home near Lake Wheeler in Raleigh. Tuesday looks like it might be my best chance to get some of the heavy rain totals that would go a long way to erasing the cumulative effects of the drought that have added up the past year or so.
That's exactly how it goes where I am too. Just this weekend I watched places 5 miles away get hit multiple times, including 2 times yesterday, while barely getting a trace here. I have no clue how we got so lucky about 10 days ago, but things are back to normal now.I swear man it rains in the same places day after day and the rest of us just hope for scraps or to get lucky with their outflows
Let's use New Bern, NC as an example.IMO in most of Southeast US north of 32°N, January is the worst month not August.
new bern has an avg high of 55 in january and an avg low of 36. nothing brutally cold about that in fact it’s very mild compared to much of the countryLet's use New Bern, NC as an example.
January is brutally cold, with only some nice days. Even in those nice days nights are often cold.
August (2nd hottest month) is mostly pleasant, though a few days can be too warm.
