Probably more of a banter question but…is July the most boring month weather wise? I vote yes. Just a question of how hot we get. Isolated severe. Too early for tropical season for most. Yawn
For me, boring AND miserable. There's just no redeeming quality (even with some "nice" fronts we've seen the past couple Julys.) Stays light till 9:30 pm, only "cool" time of day is sunrise (and then it's too muggy to enjoy). Sun angle is insane, hot, hazy, humid. Humans shouldn't have to endure July! 🥵

I promise you several of y'all had more rain last night than a few of us have had in last 2 months, easily
Man, I’m not gonna lie. It was great here, but I admit I felt guilty as sin some of ya’ll got essentially zilch. Mother nature is cruel at times.

Also, probably not a good time to mention I hear some thunder here, so I won’t. ;)

This whole weather year at this point has been total ass. Basically no rain after August last year, 200 degrees at Christmas, dud ice storm, everyone in NC getting a foot out side of a 100 sq mile area, endless days near or over 100, no rain, now watching everyone else get rain, I can't remember the last time I was in or near the core of a thunderstorm probably summer of 2024. If I didnt have to use the donation money to keep the lights on at this place I would probably walk away from this hobby. Didnt renew my radarscope sub this year, havent put my tempest up at my new house just sitting in the yard. It's not fun

No, not at all to me. The unpredictability of where July storms popup/move and then to experience them is anything but boring to me. I experienced one at Tybee 2 days ago (part of a popup line). As we saw the threatening dark skies to our W, folks were discussing whether or not it would make it all the way to the beach. And then it came in and was full fledged.

July is the peak of afternoon popup season on average.

Also, July being the hottest means some of the hottest days of course. Not what I enjoy, but not boring as they’re interesting.

Not that boring is necessarily bad. The most boring time of year could arguably to some be much of Oct-Nov, the driest part of the year on avg in the SE. But the boring is often because of dry Canadian airmasses bringing awesomely comfy wx. So, I love that kind of boring! Boring and not enjoyable are two totally different things.

Speaking of pop-ups, one TS from a broken line just brought me approaching 1/2” over the last ~30 minutes with it lightening up now. This is the first measurable rain so far this month for where I live as the big Tybee TS that I experienced late afternoon Sunday missed my home to the E. Yesterday, it appeared I was going to get decent rain but it fell apart before I could get anything more than a T.

Nothing yesterday but we somehow picked up some rain during the night. No where near as much as other areas though. Much of the Columbia area got 2+ out of evening and overnight storms.

I have seen this weather pattern before - 1998–2002, 2007–2008, 2025-2026 in particular. Not much one can do about it - it will rain when it will rain and the pattern changes. This does not disqualify my frustration with the weather gods - (---- them) - I still have a hose with plenty of water.

2026: Marked by an Exceptional Drought (D4) status, tracking as the driest year ever recorded in Monroe's 130+ year history. On July 6, 2026, the city implemented Stage 2 Mandatory Water Restrictions.

I just hope that everyone else getting rain stops water restrictions from getting more restricted. At least i can water
