Only .43 here, but better than it was looking early on. Just glad to get over a quarter of an inch. The wind on the front end was pretty intense (and felt awesome) and knocked a large tree down on a main street nearby.

The 18z GFS is awful for much of NC and it would not take much to be bad for upstate SC too. It also shows no rain for anyone after this weekend through the end of the run. If these next 2 chances miss, we may be dry for a while.
Strong storms this morning with 0.63" of rain here, and temps not getting out of the 60s today, feeling like March. The wind gusts knocked the power out for half an hour though, strong wind is evil and useless.

Nice batch of light to moderate rain headed for N. Georgia over the next couple of hours. Meso models missed this precursor rain, assuming it holds together.

This round of rain looks mostly like a no show for NC and upstate SC. Sat could still go either way.
Probably destroyed the dry spell here. Radar estimates 2-4" fell last night.

Major forecast bust today in NC/SC. Quite literally nothing on the radar of significance despite healthy coverage forecast from ILM. Some mist/showers way down near Hilton Head but that's it.
With tomorrow dry too that'll leave us at .07" for the month. Driest April I can find on record for Florence.

Kudos to the Euro Weeklies breaking the dryness and having it quite wet in N AL for the week 4/27-5/3, following it having it still dry 4/20-26, way back on this April 17th run and never letting that go (it even had hints of a wetter signal for that week for some runs before April 17th):

2 day totals of 1.89" at CHA airport and 1.76" at the house. Good to see the precip was fairly broadbrushed over the area.

0.57" overnight brings the 2-day total to 1.20", and monthly to 1.47". Still a dry April but not breaking any records. The rain ended as the sun came up and now a beautiful sunny spring day headed to 77ºF.
1.65 for the two night total here.

3:25PM: Further clearing SW of Raleigh and Greensboro, it has turned into quite a nice day with temps well into the 70s now! CAPE (Convective Available Potential Energy) values across the Foothills and southern Piedmont have risen to about 1,500 J/kg, which is enough to support some scattered showers/storms, so we will see if any try to develop later today. The severe weather threat remains low, but no 0.
The circled area is where the clouds have finally started to clear out.
