Strange for sure, I am up in Huntersville and will go out and measure soon but its been pouring up here for a while... at least at my place.

It’s been snowing steadily but a lot of periods of tiny flakes/flurries that blow around in the wind and don’t accumulate efficiently. I was estimating around 4” visually until I actually measured.

This is going to be one of the all time greats in Charlotte. I’m glad I was bullish on this storm the last few days. Even my forecast of 6-12” will be conservative

Just measured, roughly 6.5", right off exit 31 on 77. The wind is really starting to rip, so getting an accurate measurement is getting tough.

Agreed. I’ve seen in the past, the HRRR struggles with warm air in the 700-950 range. It wants to cut qpf.

Right on que. Whole triangle will be covered in 90 mins. Moderate to heavy snow by 4 or 5pm.

Here it just keeps on pouring thankfully. We are going double digits. Close if, not over half way there now.

Wind is even gone up another notch.

Yeah I think you will. Just west and north of Charlotte seems to be where the sweet spot is with this one.

At 15:1 that’s still at least a couple inches, and as has already been pointed out the HRRR isn’t preforming in real time.

Why is this snow so loud? You can hear some of it hit the ground like it’s ice pellets. But it’s not?

Sounds like our January 2025 storm down here on the coast. I thought it was sleeting at one point but it was the snow blowing so hard. We were 18-20 degrees and it stung when I was out shoveling.
