Larger flakes starting to mix in now, accumulating quickly
Models (especially CAMs) aren’t end-all-be-all. I caught a ton of flack for forecasting less than 1” in Cobb and ATL and for having that consistent forecast over the last 3 days.

Starting to pick up now in Clarkesville/Habersham - started out very fine but filling in with larger flakes now. Absolutely no wind - when is the wind supposed to crank up?

It's been pouring graupel here for 15 minutes. I hate to be a snob, but i'm concerned this is really eating in to my accumulations. Hopefully we get some dendrites soon.

That is where the best lift is. You can start to get really good rates in this area.
Picked up an inch overnight. Unexpected but welcome. Now we wait around all day for the coastal low to spin up and bring the main event tonight.
ILM has kept totals mostly consistent around 4-8” for SENC and NESC. Still some doubt about where the dry slot sets up so things a bit in flux. All the more confusing is the CAE office saying “no dry slot” yesterday. It won’t even be in their FA. Not the first time they’ve second guessed other forecast offices in recent history.

Just measured between 1.25 and 1.5 just south of South Park. Flake size has increased. Moderate vs light snow now.

Was the same here for a bit and now just heavy dandruff...concerned we won't get 3 inches now. Haven't had dimes fall yet...sigh

Starting to get some good rates just west of Statesville
That was a nice burst this a.m . Time for that short lull wow an them had, before hopefully these returns can pivot up through here by 915ish.

You are right under the surface trough. My wind is also almost calm. I expect the snow to start here within the hour...clouds have that look,.
lol its not even cranking yet guys, chill. by lunch it'll be goin. radar is empty over my house but it's already accumulating

Great start so far. Good rates for a few hours. In a lull now for another hour or so. Still light snow. Around 1” so far but it’s hard to tell because of the blowing. Some folks are going to really cash in with this. Enjoy!

I don’t see how you are going to measure from your deck table. It must be protected from the wind. Every time mine starts to accumulate the wind clears it all off.
