Misc General Banter Thread

Yeah, my dad was sitting at my house in southwestern Wake County simply convinced that he had six or 7 inches of snow at his house in North Raleigh and wouldn’t believe me because his weather app told him that much was on the ground. I literally had to pull up there blink camera to show them it wasn’t even covering the grass.

Yeesh, these stories may make me want to join y’all in filing complaints.

In another news, I think of late, I’ve lost my last nerve with constantly watching models. I should just close my eyes at this point, but I’m not sure I can help myself.

I am going to become the joker if start time doesn’t look close at least by 7-8 AM.

Decisions.

Take the “brain won’t STFU”, emergency ambien? Or stay up?

I know my best shot is only a trace to 1 inch. But I gotta see it fall!

Leaning toward the sledgehammer and forcing sleep.

I hear you. I'm a night owl that could stay up, but looks like on the HRRR, probably nothing here until 8:00? I think I'm going to go to bed to get up around then.

I just want to see snow fall, not trying to get out in it with these temps. Anyone have other thoughts on timing of the onset of snow in ATL?

Haha I remember the posts here early on last week about Apple showing 29 inches of snow

That's probably why everyone hyped it as the apocalypse looking back

TWC was way too high too. Not to mention their maps showing 2-3 feet 😩

Yeah. I’ve made that decision. Bedtime. Think best chance is morning. Based on FFC’s briefing earlier today and what models have shown. And the little meteorology gut I do have.

You’re in a better spot than me. But folks even further east are in the best position to see something good.

This clearly hasn’t been my snowstorm for many days now. My disappointment and acceptance have been worked through. So I truly hope those who have been lured in the last couple of days get hammered. The cruelest is to think you’re all set and have the rug pulled last minute. Wish that pain on no one. Best of luck to you all!

Are old Masters badges worth anything??

BTW- Rusty likes watching it snow, just about as much as I do.

I never want to hear the phase "dry slot" again.

As someone without a dog in the fight I've been thinking it's hard to see Charlotte potentially getting a foot and Raleigh get nothing

But on the other hand... After what the models are showing I dunno I just kind of throw my hands up at this point

Unfortunately the NAM and HRRR show the type of potential complete misses that really hurt credibility with the public.

You can say "dry slot" as much as you want, but if I'm WRAL and RAH, I'm praying they are missing something vs. rest of guidance

The "dry slot" isn't even that accurate to describe the situation. It's just the lack of forcing to create snowflakes because we're just too far from the ULL and the coastal.

But yeah, the public here in Raleigh was already snarky about the ice storm not being as bad as it could've been. This would be cherry on the top on a disastrous month of maintaining good credibility with the local public.

Yeah I guess it makes sense if the energy is transferring to the coastal maybe but good grief I can't even imagine it verifying

But yeah the forecasts all month have been poor already
