Misc General Banter Thread

The all time miller B dryslot…still not over this one.

But we will get a nasty dry slot this weekend that will be saving grace for someone. Unless you don’t want power.

Kylo, the amount of mod reports your posts get make you the most reported poster here lol.

I ignore the reports though. Free speech.

Just because you are anti snow in your style doesn’t make you any worse than anyone else lol
I should win a prize.

I like discussing the good with the bad “trends”. It’s weather and I like watching models. Some can’t emotionally handle disappointment. I get it.

We should all be rooting for this to miss. I want power and not destruction.

Cheers to the BAM folks…an all time call…they belong in Cooperstown.

While still a lot of unknowns with this storm and, at the moment, it appears there will be some major impacts in some areas. However, based on what we were looking at just a couple of days ago, I think we see that it isn’t anywhere close to what was modeled at all. While not apples to apples, it reminds me of another major winter storm that was predicted by all the major models and then basically went poof (I know this one hasn’t gone completely poof!) Does anyone remember the predicted Groundhogzilla storm … I believe in 2009? (Where does time go!?!?) I still have not gotten over that one completely!

What a signal

I’m driving to Charlotte on Saturday morning and coming back Sunday. Lovely. 👀

Question, I am a caretaker of my uncle which is 78. We live in house with alot of big trees on the property. Do you think we should get a hotel and stay there for some days and come back or ride the storm out at home? Thoughts and thank you.

It's so hard to say. It sucks being in this questionable area so close to the event. Personally if I had the finances, I would probably just get the hotel Saturday night. Worst comes to worst, you get a hotel for a night, the ice isn't so bad and then you can go back home on Sunday. If it is bad, just buy another night or two or however long it takes for roads to clear.

Just my opinion though.

Do you think we see any meaningful changes with shorter range models coming in to the forecast or is is very small steps from here?

I think the only way we don’t see a major winter storm in Cad areas is if there’s a big lull in precip. Even then I think freezing drizzle would be likely. There’s really no getting out of this imo

The NAM has me below freezing for 18 hours, yeah hopefully we do just pull a "fail mode" of have most of the precip stay north until the final band, because 😬 if not.

It's something I've spotted in the AI models, so maybe I'm still fine.

Enough with the freaking dry solutions…. What an absolute pos storm. All hype no results, this will be literally nothing if it takes this track…. Save me the freezing drizzle long duration bs. Had a chance to finally track something cool even though it was ICE now we’re running out of QPF. Ridiculous man, always something. I hate the Apps they literally ruin everything about our weather. Idc what any of you say, I wanted that smoke, 2-3” QPF with temps sub 27 idc bring it.

We welcome all of you clinging for life in the storm thread to hop over to the January Joke thread. We should have some historic and life threatening runs by this weekend. I am sure we will have some planes headed to the upper air pattern on Tuesday to kill the threat by cloud seeding. Rest up gang!

Not a bad idea. We have had several fallen tree incidents in Alabama from severe weather. Big trees are scary.

It really is going to be something when the local mets here in Alabama start hyping next weeks big snow threat. They will all be catching hell for this busted ice storm and next week will indeed verify and it will be mass hysteria. Book it

Does the average person really give the mets crap for any of this? We might just be inside our bubble where we are all weather nerds/weenies
