Misc General Banter Thread

This run was quite about colder at the surface for everyone during the storm. Really insane numbers, but I honestly think they're going to be underdone when it's all said and done.
We’re running out of time to have a chance at a good snow aren’t we

Nah, we're still in the game. Just gonna depend on how the Radar/Precip evolves on Saturday. I think we snow until about 5-7pm Saturday evening. Just need to get lucky and be in on the front end thump that sets up before then. If that sets up to our North, then, we're screwed on the snow. Still a historic sleet storm though.

I’ve never actually seen that much sleet before. What does a significant amount of sleet even feel like like I can’t even imagine going outside and seeing that much sleet accumulation

They say sleet is great for sledding but I’m not sure either

Another thing to look for is the possible switchover back to snow on the backside that could add up totals even more

Pingers do take a long time to melt. They aren't great for sledding though---unless you get a thick glaze of frz rain on top of it. Then it's golden!

I’ve been so busy the last couple days. I really want to sit down and study the 12z GFS and ask why did it work out so well for ATL with a system that basically ended as snow for us and somewhat cut down ZR. Essentially need that high to stay as strong as we can get it, heights further east suppressed, which mean… Baja low doesn’t amp as much? Am I getting that right?

A lotta lotta people in the great state of North Caroline are gonna be massively sad/mad when that huge band of snow sadly shifts away from them before gametime

yeah i mean; there are multiple models/ensembles still showing a situation that us to the south can get rain instead, thankfully

This was the beginning of the ice storm of 2014 in Augusta. That is 100% sleet, and it sucks so bad, especially when you get ZR on top of it. You can't even go for walks in it, unless you want to bust your tail. This storm is why I hate ice so intensely.

At this point, you want that wedge to be as strong as possible to keep the lower levels below the freezing layer as deep as possible and hope for sleet.
Some places may get several inches of sleet followed by up to an inch of ZR. I'd love snow, but that would be something to behold with the frigid airmasses to follow.

And it was 80 in Augusta a week later on 2-19-2014
