The AI models have done a better job this season locking in systems and then staying consistent over time most of the way to the event. However, its still too far out to make any conclusions, both AI models just had tad too much bump of the SE ridge and that is all.

I found the key…we need that lobe east of Alaska to stay up there and not get sucked down to the west coast. Euro ai, and gfs ai especially are sucking that lobe down quicker.

Stronger push of cold air (Uptrending) better CAD overall to filter down cold temps closer to the SFC.

I’m still nervous about the AI models being more amped and west. That’s prob the only thing that could keep us from getting a widespread winter storm at this point… if too much troughing drops out west.

Yeah, part of the problem is you get a large warm nose at the 850mb but that is downtrending slowly but surely.

Not banter at all. The surface cold air is there, no doubt. It comes down to the mid and upper level features. If the wave is too strong, then warm air advection in the mid levels will turn snow over to sleet or freezing rain. You want a weaker wave.

If you like snow instead of ice and rain… root for the euro to be more right than the gfs ai with this feature at hour 90.

Gfs ai slings that lobe down to the west coast and wrecks our perfect pattern look.

Biggest CAD I think I've ever seen in general on any model, maybe some past 300+ hours but never inside 180.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a CAD event advect cold air all the way in to eastern Mississippi. I don’t even think I’ve seen that modeled before.
