Pattern December Doldrums 2025 🎄 ❄️

CAD doing its magic in NC! I’m jealous. Consider that here it is still 72.6 here (with overcast). But even this is better than high 70s with sunny 24 hours ago.

This contrast was forecasted quite well.

Yesterday’s high at KSAV was a sweaty record tying 80.
 
Far western NC valleys (Burnsville, Waynesville, Valle Crucis, even Hatley Pointe ski resort) are into the 60s. 56 in boone while it is 46 here and 43 in Wilkes
 
Time series of the last 36 hours or so
12/27 3pm: 75/45, calm and sunny
12/28 5am: 54/46, clouds building wind NE 6
12/28 12pm: 46/46, 2.00mi vis, mist, NNE 6
12/29 4am: 50/50, 0.25vis, fog/mist, calm
12/29 5am: 57/55, 10.00mi vis, cloudy, SW 10G17

Currently: 61/59, cloudy, WSW 20G29

If this gets you fired up, you are too far gone and have no hope of ever recovering

At least we had weather and didn't just sun ->night -> fog ->sun this torch like we have in Decembers past

You ain't lying! She came through like a freight train early this morning and still howling. Not much mention of how windy and the gusts from anyone except on here. Wasn't any wind advisories for our lakes either and several bass tournaments(small). I have several gusts over 30mph already.

Yeah, and high wind warnings just to your north.

We've crept up to -3.4F for the month at KFLO with the warm days mixed in with wedge days. BN last 2 days of the month should land us between -3.5F and -4.0F for the month. Obviously there's a story behind the numbers but to have both November and December come in below average is not too common.

We don’t usually see two sharp daytime temperature drops in a month like this. Very similar her to back on Dec 14
