Massive west based -NAO. -EPO and a bowling ball in the southwest with the TPV over southeastern Canada. Can’t really draw it up much better outside of getting a western ridgeEuro extended control from last night was dreamy for the 2nd half of January.

Something drawn up better would be a reverse wedge, downsloping and heating the air east of the apps, I’m talking 70s and 80sMassive west based -NAO. -EPO and a bowling ball in the southwest with the TPV over southeastern Canada. chasing Pattern changes sucks so bad! I can’t believe I’m going to be sitting in the 50s up here on Christmas Eve and Day! About 25 degrees above normal! One of the biggest things for me in patterns like the (which are all too frequent nowadays) is the disappointment of not being really able to talk productively about what 90% of us love to talk about. I mean we get the CFS stuff occasionally or the 384 GFS once in a while, but that is just silly.
Even if we track something and it doesn't pan out, it still beats sitting around looking at the same orange maps over and over.
It got burned up in flames by the torchSo I'm guessing the huge storm on the Euro for the start of 2026 went poof.
Holy Moly, that is a perfect southern slider winter storm setup.Euro extended control from last night was dreamy for the 2nd half of January.

butt ugly
I love when low temps are equal to mid-late May climo, this is perfect weather for the tradesman working outdoors ! View attachment 179338
To me it depends on what kind of 60s. 60s with sunny skies and dewpoints below 40 is nice but 60s with overcast and dewpoints in the 50s isn’t.
It’s 34 here at midnight. Probably going to be the last freeze until next year. The day had sunny 60s with 30s dewpoints. Loved it and was out enjoying it. The weekend is looking to be similarly nice.
Cold night tonight with 30s lows. Now 46.
I noticed the 12z suite today featured big cool downs on 12/28 and 1/4 on the GFS/EURO/CMC, but were basically gone on the 18z. Then this. I suppose there may big swings either way, but it's good to at least see some possible good stuff thrown out there. The CMC goes full pacific rex block with the eastern U.S. trough and a cutoff low drifting east towards the end. Goes crazy with pattern amplification. These looks getting flashed tonight are hard to unsee View attachment 179343

Vaguely kinda looks like last nights Euro around the same periodThe AIFS did the same exact move as the AIGFs, with a cold shot around day 9-10 View attachment 179348
Also not a bad look, move the trailing wave to a lower latitude and you can cook something up View attachment 179349
