I see you @jrips27 , although sadly with the Phillies renting an apartment in the middle of the Braves heads, this would've likely just been a 5-0 loss in the afternoon tomorrow if they PPD the game (honestly think they should've because conditions weren't really safe with the lightning even with the rain having really lightened for a stretch):

 
Anyone else watching Night of Champions? I'm thinking Rhodes is getting stale like Cena did when he was winning all the time. I thought they could have done a stable with Rhodes, Orton, Owens and one other person when Rhodes came back to WWE and before Owens was hurt. Could have been a modern day Four Horsemen. I also thought they waited too long to turn Cena heel.and could have done it a few years back and have him lead a new.version of the NWO.
 
What are your pulse rates when lying quietly in bed about to fall asleep or just after waking up? Any of you ever check? Mine is often only 47-53. I’ve seen as low as 45. Even though O2 is almost always 95%+, I’ll sometimes feel slightly short of breath for short periods til I take a deeper breath. Is this normal for someone without sleep apnea? And I hardly ever feel short of breath when sitting, standing, or walking. Pulse usually jumps into 55-70 range then.

I actually haven’t asked him yet but will. Of course PR never anywhere near that low when go to doc.
I’m suspicious of underactive thyroid. My TSH late last year was 4.3.
 
Hey everyone! I run a local weather page in my hometown and the surrounding 4 counties for the past 2 years. I’m looking to potentially invest in a Sky Cam of sorts but don’t know much about them. Any suggestions on companies who provide them or other suggestions? To have a real live feed would be awesome! Just looking for anything and everything related to these cams.

RHR for me is around 45-55. Low is better than high.( that’s my rate for sleep but just chillin I’m around 75-85. 60-100 is normal.
 
I think June is becoming one of my least favorite months for weather. I’ll be glad when August gets here and hopefully the afternoon storms starts to diminish. June and July seem to always be the peak months for those afternoon pop up storms. It’s hard to plan anything this time of year outdoors cause you never know when it’s gonna rain.

Our dry streak here is gone, barely. A storm popped right over me but left places less than a mile away bone dry. As for real heat, the models seem to be going back and forth with that for the moment.
 
Three young people shot (thankfully none in serious condition) in Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah at ~5:40PM in what I’m guessing were gang members shooting at each other. It wasn’t random. No longer is an active shooter. Mayor Van Johnson is livid.

Affected so many people because this mall is a busy and very large place. Numerous shoppers, diners, and employees were petrified. Some of the last people who were inside are just now able to leave (2.5 hours later).

I can’t recall anything like this ever occurring on the south side of Savannah, much less the mall, itself.

Meant to see if I could get look at some "neighborhood fireworks" again for July 4th, needless to say, marched back inside in about 5 minutes as I ran into what was clear lightning instead and it scared me. Took these shots:




There are limits to what a Pixel phone can do with pictures, but I think these are very nice.

The fun thing is right after marching inside, I pulled the radar up and figured out that these storms will more likely than not be more pop-up whiffs for me.

Edit: Yeah, I'm headed back outside, lol.

Edit2: Not half bad on fireworks, but I didn't get the greatest of pictures, so I won't post those as well. Will say that it was a pretty cool nighttime lightning show too and if things align sometime in the future, I might try to film that (haven't had enough practice with setting up for good shots involving lightning).

The story out of Texas is just getting worse. So sad to see so many affected. Sounds like this particular NWS office was one of the more affected by forced staff reductions.


U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett shared a letter with MySA he addressed to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on May 20, detailing "critical understaffing" at NWS' Austin/San Antonio office. Prior to President Donald Trump's administration taking the helm, Doggett wrote the Central and South Texas NWS office had a 11% vacancy rate; as of late May, that number has doubled to 22%.

Doggett outlined recent departures of NWS Austin/San Antonio's warning coordination meteorologist, science and operations office, as well as its observing program leader as contributing factors to the heightened vacancy rate. In his letter, Doggett called on NOAA leadership to outline its operational plans given the possibility of additional staff vacancies and departmental budget cuts compounded by summertime severe weather events.

Get this ---- out of here. 25 people are dead because a flood prone area had a river rise 26’ in 45 minutes. Slight staff shortage had nothing to do with warnings for something has happened already before in this same area. I swear leftists use every crisis to propagate. Pathetic.

I am at a loss. I get kids can be naive to certain dangers, but how do these adults allow them to camp on a riverbank in extreme rain not prepare for this? After a few hours of intense rain and it not letting up, logic should lead you to move to higher or safer ground before the floods begin to rise.

What on earth is "leftist" about observing this NWS area of responsibility had more staffing shortages than normal? It's a conversation that must be had if warnings were late/not received. Let me put it this way: I work in insurance and as of late risk scoring is being reviewed across the country in response to this very thing. I can guarantee you the casualty underwriting for these areas detailed exactly what their plans were to be in the event of a flood event. NOAA weather radios, sirens, etc. If the warnings came down and weren't relayed there were issues with staff potentially not following procedures which while terrible can be rectified. If the warnings were late/not communicated via proper channels (IE-using social media) then we have an example of systemic risk.

My understanding is NOAA has been forcibly relocating some staff to areas of most critical need. This can backfill most of the time but you still lose local knowledge. In the same vein just because you don't see things "falling apart" from the outside doesn't mean there isn't institutional friction being introduced every day.
